He won't breastfeed

My milk supply is really bad and I know if I give one formula feed and miss a pumping session, it'll be the beginning of the end.

I personally found it easier when Amelia was solely breast fed, now she is on solids and formula i try to avoid going out as much as poss.

Just to add i never expressed i guess that would be really time consuming.

You should do what makes you feel happiest, no-one can tell you the right answer. x

i was in the exactly the same situation hun. it is so hard and draining. i started giving ali formula milk as i couldn't keep up with his demands....but the way i looked at it he had 8 weeks of solid breast milk and he would have got all the essential antibiotics at the start, just like your LO.

you are doing so well, do what is right for your and your baby.

Do whatever you feel is best for you. You could try combination feeding. If it doesnt work out its not the end of the world if you FF. Dont make yourself miserable and depressed.

i think in your situation i'd FF. i know i was dead set on BF with katie and was gutted when i had to stop, but when it comes down to getting some freedom or being chained to your sofa and breast pump, i know which i'd prefer - i'd go stir crazy!! but its entirely up to you! LOs had breastmilk for the most important part so if you do switch to FF then dont feel guilty. have you tried ways of boosting your supply??

I take Finn out once or twice a day, all day at the weekends, to the beach and such. He is BF. Personally if I was you I think I would choose formula- he loves to be out, it makes him an easier baby. Plus you have done a good stint expressing and given him a good start, but you need to enjoy your summer and baby too and I couln't do that if I was expressing exclusively. i forgot to say, when i was BF, towards the end i hardly went out cos katie would be feeding practically constantly. it almost killed me, i was literally chained to the sofa, as if it was when i first had her. i was so so relieved when i started FF. meant i got the odd lie in in the morning too!!

You sound like you are having to put in a lot of extra effort and time and if that carries on you will eventually burn out which is not good for your baby!

I was told that breastmilk is really important for the first 6 weeks but after that formula is absolutely fine.

You will eventually become very depressed if you are stuck at home all the time. I'd suggest trying the formula (if your LO is older than 6 weeks) and see how your LO takes to it. My LO was actually happy on formula than breastmilk.

Good luck, I hope things get easier.

you need to do what is best for the three of you hun. If FF your baby will be just fine. Lots of babies are FF from day 1 and grow up just fine (mine being one of them) Don't beat yourself up about it, you have done brilliantly!
