one of us thinks the baby should be put to sleep on its back ...
the other thinks it should be put to sleep on its stomach ...
though we have a while till the baby comes i just wanted your opinions
which way did you put your baby to bed? on its back or stomach?
are there pros and cons to both of them?

| I put my baby to sleep on her back because she hates it on her stomach. Some babies love it on their stomach. | | | | Status: Offline

| You should always put them to sleep on their back, putting them to sleep on their stomach can be dangerous and increases the risk of SIDS. Babies do sleep better on their bellies though, they get more comfy, curl up and usually sleep deeper...which is the reason for the increase in SIDS that way. If you only ever put them on their back it shouldn't be an issue though, they won't know any different. That's my opinion anyway | | | | Status: Online

| Maley was put on her side. Swaddled and wedged so she couldnt roll forwards or backwards. She slept on her front for naps though as she preferred it. | | | | Status: Offline

| At first we put Kathryn on her back (safer, it reduces the risk of SIDS) but as soon as she was rolling over whenever she wanted she would sleep on her stomach (even if we put her on her back she'd just flip over, so we decided that it was fine to let her sleep in her tummy from then on). | | | | Status: Offline

| When you have your baby your midwife should and most probably will tell you baby should be put to sleep on their back. Im not sure of the reason why but it prevents the risk of SIDs i think. So iv always put him on his back but since he has been able to roll over himself he sleeps on his tummy because thats how he chooses too. | | | | Status: Offline
