In the summer...

When it's really hot, should you give water to a baby? Even though they say formula/breastmilk is all they need.. don't they ever get just thirsty? Or need something to cool them down?

Just wondering. It was 29C here today... I think we're gonna be in for a hot summer.. and it's soo humid where I am..

Just out of curiousity how hot does it get there?

It's a good idea to give water if you are out in the heat for awhile, just don't give too much because that can be bad too. I would just offer her and ounce or 2 if you are out somewhere, if she doesn't want it I wouldn't push it, she doesn't have to have it, but if it's hot it's good to atleast offer

It can get to about 35C... but like I said very humid, you feel like you're being suffocated it's so hot sometimes! We don't have our air conditioning on yet, so it's hot in the house ATM as well.

I give Gabbi water, but she doesn't take a lot. If we are out and about, I take her food, formula and always a bottle of water. Tried giving diluted juice too but still won't take much. So I would say although they don't really need so much as yes, formula can be enough, but give some water after food. Some babies are thirsty though and drink loads. Just try your little one, see what happens.

( I don't give it before formula, like an hour, as it fills her up and she won't drink her milk then!)

if you're BF you dont need to cos the hotter it gets the more watery your milk gets - clever (.Y.)s!! but seeing as you're FFing i reckon like an ounce or somethin might be a good idea...good luck gettin her to take it mind!! xxxx

if you are ff'ing then yes and let baby have as much or as little as they want, just not too close to a feed, but breast milk is supposed to adjust to satisfy thirst , or something
