they wont let me give blood

this is totally pointless post but just spoke to blood donors to tell them i had baby so cant give blood for 9 months.
but i been told i'll never be able to give blood ever again because i had a blood tranfusion following my c section

i'm gutted its made me really upset cos it made me feel good about myself as if i were saving a life in some way i've donated over 30 times.

they said the reason i cant give blood now is there is no test for cjd (mad cow)

who wants to give blood in my honour then

my mum had a blood transfusion when she had a MC a couple of yers after she had me. she'd always given blood and has been told she cant now aswell!

tho i was watching some trashy morning tv programme on bbc1 not so long ago and i sure i recall them saying that people that had transfusions can now give blood

I remember chattin with the OH about it saying that was new.

i'll check with the OH see if he remembers it.....

Can anyone remeber the name of the programme, it was about saving lifes and there was a blood donating spokeswoman and an organ transplant spokesman. Had a lot of stories about cancer sufferers and one guy who had his leg cut off by a boat? If i can get the name of the programme i might be able to find out more.

I'm not allowed to either, as I've been exposed to malaria from living around the world. I don't have it, but they won't take the risk.

I can't do it purely because they have trouble finding my veins!! I've only donated twice so far, but have been told not to go anymore! Apparently my veins are too deep and it can make it all a bit harder, I even told them I didn't mind the extra pain, but nope, can't do it!

I have collapsable veins

So when someone sticks a needle in the collapse. So gross, and means they have to dig the needle around when it's in my arm. I always end up getting faint or passing out.

I give blood and I'm itching to get back down there! When I do, I'll make sure they take enough for both of us!!!

sometimes they can be so difficult you would think they didn't want the blood. My friend was asked to leave because she asked if they minded her look the other way because needles made her a bit squeamish. she's now not allowed to give blood again!

I love giving blood it makes me feel good that Im actually helping someone!! I cant wait to give blood again, I dont know why you cant give blood for 9 months?? I feel fine, or is it not to do with how we're feeling and our blood or something?? What makes the wait worse is that I dont even feel like I've given birth... have no baby to look after and show for it day to day!! xxx

OMG!!! thats ridiculous!!! I have to look away and sometimes I even have Local Anesthetic cause it hurts so much (yes I am a wimp) but its still worth it and theyre still more than happy to take my blood!!! xxx
