cant have a baby gate ne ideas?

hey ladies, hope everyone ok.

well we wennt out n bought a baby gate only to realise we cant have one at bottom of stairs (should have noticed before really lol) as theres no pillar on bottom if u get me, so theres the wall on one side for it to go n nothiing on the other so we tried 3 steps up where there was, wasnt happy about this as 3 steps is still dangerous, but it wudnt even fit there as stairs r too wide,

does anyone have any ideas of something we can buy instead to guard the stairs ? ive tried putting big toys or something ther but he always manages to get through or its a pain moving it when i need to get up.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

thanks

The only thing I can think of is a babydan playpen and get it somehow bolted onto the wall or stairs or get a carpenter/joiner to look at it and see is there a way round it

Stairs being wide - You can get extended gates or extentions for certain ones.

Babydan playpen idea is good they can also be used as room dividers.

A gate on the rooms that lead out to the stairs? In our livingroom we have 2 gates one leads to kitchen one to hallway ...never had one at the bottom of stairs - I now have one at top of stairs and soon fitting another on her room door!
