Exhausted..

Does anyone else's toddler ALWAYS wake up at 5.30-6am EVERY morning? I'm so tired. If I try to lay him back down, he just gets up, again and again and again. If I just leave him, he gets up, gets out of bed and starts screaming. Then he wants to go downstairs. He'll scream and point down the stairs, and go fetch my dressing gown so we can go down. I'm so tired of getting up so early every morning, and then having screaming for an hour or more.

Well Poppy's not a toddler but she seems to like the early starts. She is quite often up at 6am if not before and I agree, it is a bit knackering! She usually only wakes once in the night (at about 4am) for a feed but it takes me ages to get back off after that, so I go into a deep sleep JUST as she decides wakes for the day.

I just don't get how he does it, he can go to sleep at 7 and wake up at half 5, or if he goes to bed at 9, he'll still wake up at half 5.... Maybe I need a black-out blind..?

Might be worth a try. We've got one but haven't put it up yet. It's a job for next week when my hub is off work

Yes! Theo isn't a toddler yet either and he wakes up at that time every day. A couple of times about a month ago he woke up at 7.30 and we thought we had cracked it, but no back to 6 again!! So tiring. We have tried blackout blinds and they have helped a little bit but tbh ours aren't totally blackout so I think he still knows the time!

Jack definately isn't a toddler yet, but seems to believe that 5 am is a good time to wake up and refuses to go back to sleep

yep yep rosie did this when she was a toddler its a pain,
black out blind is a good one.
i put a gate on her door as well, although she'd often stand and throw things over the top i used to have a sippy cup with me and give her that but i didnt speak to her if she got up other than say no its not time to get up yet, and then give it half hour or so and then get up.
but tbh i would be into the habit eventually at getting up at that time so just ended up going to bed early to cope.

now 14 yrs later i cant get her out of the bed i feel like going in with symbols shouting "oi rosie how do you like it".
