Poorly. Again. *kind of rant*

Got a call from nursery yesterday saying Seth had a temperature of 38.5 and if it went up anymore Id have to go and get him. I was in a meeting so thought once that was over Id go and pick him up. 15 mins later they rung back and said it was 40.1 So I went and gave him some calpol which brought it down (eventually) to 37.2. Id taken him to the Drs in the meantime who said there was nothing wrong with him. Riiiiiiiight.

Then at 9 last night it went back up to 40. More calpol, didnt work, so we stripped him off, started cooling him down with a cold flannel and giving him lots of water. Eventually he went down to 38.5. Rang NHS direct who said just to monitor him. While we were on the phone we told her we couldn't wake him up but he was breathing normally and she said that was ok. Which surely isnt? But Im no medical expert.

So I haven't slept all night lol At 530 he woke up crying, temp at just under 40 again, tried him on Ibroprofen this time and it worked a bit quicker, on 38 now and he's still sleeping which is odd for him.

Feel so sorry for him We've just got to the bottom of his diarreah and sickness (found out he's actually lactose intolerant like Id been telling the docs for 4 months grr), which was shortly followed by a nasty tummy bug and now this

Just feel like Im doing something wrong. He's ill constantly

xxx

Can you not take him to another doctor for a second opinion? There must be something wrong for his temp to be going above 38. Also the not being able to wake him, I was reading in a book the other day (my LO had a temp) that you get them to the doc if you struggle to wake them up.

Also read in a mag yesterday that the average kid will have 6-10 colds in their first 2 years.

Hope he gets better soon!

awwww poor you and poor seth,
i too would go get second opinion with your little man, if it had just been at home i'd have said maybe its your themoneter (spelling) but your nursery had the temp.

babies find it hard to regulate temp but thats far too high for him and maybe there's an underlying factor or he has a fever for no reasonarry on either way you cant carry on like this can you.

your doing all the right things though hun stripping him off etc.
xx
