Help with baby carriers please!

I bought a Mothercare baby carrier for Aisling so that I could carry her around with me when she was awake during the day so I can get on with doing things around the house. Only problem is her head doesn't come out above the carrier yet because she's so small so she's just squashed up against my chest - I'm sort of worried about smothering the poor thing!

Is anyone else using baby carriers for a baby this small or should I just wait until she's a little older?

Careful hun, we had Jack in his the other day and he ended up with a dent on his head, just behind his soft spot, where the buckles for the straps had pushed into his head when we weren't looking. His head just fell to the side when he was asleep and we only realized when he started squirming in pain left a big red mark which didn't go away. Keep an eye on them when they're in there, smothering hasn't been a problem for us though
