I used to smoke but gave up when we started trying to get pregnant. I LOVED smoking to be honest! However, I'm really glad I gave up and found it easier to quit because I had a reason to quit. I definitely wouldn't go back on them now... not after this length of time.

Alcohol on the other hand... I've never been a BIG drinker, and didn't go out on a regular basis or anything - i'd drink say once a month. I could never handle my booze and would get drunk very easily. Since having Harry, and mainly because i'm breastfeeding, i've only had 1 small glass of wine and half a bottle of beer. I'm really looking forward to having a good drink when Harry starts having more FFs.

I was a smoker and stopped when i must have been about 3 weeks pregnant, it was the same with my first pregnancy I just couldn't stand it!

i did go back to it the first time after I had my first daughter, but haven't gone back to it this time.

The craving never goes away though, I still want one after I've had my dinner and if I am stressed or out drinking, but the smell off other people puts me off, oh and the cost of it!

Dont take this the wrong way... but my Dad smoked and died of a heartattack because of smoking when I was about 5...

Is it really worth the risk of not seeing your babies grow up?

And bfing moms who say they like the fact the bfing helps prevent breast cancer... Why go back to smoking when smoking causes cancer?

I know its an addiction and its hard... you have to have the proper will to do it.

Well done to all you ladies who gave up when you were pregnant, I can't imagine how hard it must be. If you're looking for a bit of extra incentive to give up for good then this is a thought-provoking article I came across the other day.

Warning over 'third-hand smoke'

when I was pregnant there was a big big reason why not to smoke, now Im not pregnant and if I go out for a drink or a tea at work its just something you can easily slip back into the habit off! I enjoy smoking! Thats all I can say!!

I agree.... the health risks scare me... oh and the cost...!!

But I dont think the little amount I smoke will do a great deal of harm and I do not plan to smoke for ever...!!

You shouldnt even wear clothing that you have had on while smoking... it carries harmful chemicals... same with your vehicle, if youve ever smoked in it, the chemicals are still there... If youve smoked in your house, the chemicals remain unless you paint of re-wallpaper/

My oh smokes, outside only... But I am really trying to get after him to quit. I hate the thought of all what I just said above. Alot of our house is being re-painted etc though now.

Plus im so afraid he will die, or end up with a trache.... They are the most nasty things ever... I cant understand how nurses can still smoke after having to care for a patient who has a trache... Especially when alot of them are only in their 40s!!!
