Do you think your children are more likely to smoke when they are older if you do?
I have never smoked and my mum does, my dad does, my brother does and my sister does....apart from my 13 yr old bro, im the only one who has never touched one......they stink! i think thats what put me off.....oh and i would rather have spent my money on sweets!!!! lol

I dont have any kids, nor am i pregnant but i am an Ex smoker and still have a sneeky fag when im out drinking. All the non smokers that are lecturing people do u also know that having sex increases your risk of cervical cancer so are you going to ban your dd from having sex ever incase they get cirvical cancer?

I dont think that any of the mummies intent to harm their babies by smoking the odd fag. Addictions are hard to kick. I'm a bit shocked at how this thread turned out

I wondered how long it would be until the smoking police came along to shoot everyone down in flames. Its easy to say "My *suchabody* died of cancer its disgusting blah blah" its like someone said *sorry i cant remember who* that a member of their family had died of alcoholism but they still enjoyed a drink. Would you stop taking the bus if someone you knew got hit by one? I was lucky, whilst i was pregnant i couldnt of smoked if i wanted too, same as i couldnt of drank, but not everyone is like that and its bloody hard to quit when your totally addicted to something.
No one one here would purposely harm their babies, its not as if someone is going to say "I smoke coz there is a risk it will harm my child"
So lets just all chill out and answer Ema's question!

No one shot anyone down in flames or pointed fingers. Lets not make this inot a bigger thing than it was

How very compassionate of you to say that about people who have shared stories about their fathers and family members dying.

I didn't lose anyone to smoking but surely I understand that when someone does it's enough to put them of forever.

And no one ever suggested someone would purpusfully harm their babies. I most certainly don't for a second think that and I would be surprised if any one of the members does.

Now as I already said, lets not make this into more than it is, end it on a positive note and let the thread die out.

I think its pretty obvious that I didnt mean the thing about saying a family member or friend had died of cancer the way that you wish to take it.

Hi Em - I gave up the day I found I was expecting my first. My best mate brought me 20 fags to the hospital when I'd had her!

I didnt go straight back to it. I had an odd one when I was out but that was it. Then when I started working again a couple of years later, I got into going to the fag room with my old smoking partners.....and it was a slippery slope back! I stopped again in 2001 and havent smoked since though. x
