bathing question

I know when they're newborns and stuff they're supposed to get sponge baths which is what she's been gettin since she was born but last night her stump fell off finally (sidenote: she has a cute belly button lol) so do i still give her sponge baths for a while or is it ok to put her in her bath seat now and put her in the water? thanks ladies!

The midwives helped me bathe Olivia in the hospital when she was just 18 hours old....they told me that it was fine then for her cord/stump to be immersed in water. We bathed her twice a week until her cord came off, and from then on, 3 or 4 times a week......so I'd say you are fine to bathe your LO now.

hmm in the US most places tell you you shouldn't submerse them in water until after their stump is gone never heard of anyone doing it before hand actually lol

Amelia didn't have a bath until she was 3/4wks old i think....
We also didn't use soap on her until she was 6wks old.

If you are just bathing her in plain water i think it should be fine.
