Returning to work after mat leave

Hey!

Ive noticed a few of you ladies are back to work.

I have really been thinking about going back, as i feel like a lazy toad sat here with Jacob some days. I left work 2 weeks before he was born, so I have in therory until June (hes 22 weeks)

Did you girls go back ealier than the 9 months paid maternity because of money or did you need your brain to get ticking again or other reasons!?

Hope you can share

x

Hi
I went back to work after the paid maternity leave finished, for financial reasons.
I wish I didnt have to!
I started my matrnity leave 6 weeks before my due date, purely because I just couldnt wait to leave work!
Jack ended up being 2 weeks late so I waited 8 weeks at home before he arrived!
By the time my maternity leave ended Jack was 7.5 months old.
I only work 2 days per week and Jack goes to a nursery those day.
We had problems with his first nursery so we took him out and he is now at a lovely one and Jacks seems a lot happier.
But he started waking again in the night when he first started at nursery, so Im like a zombie at work (im here now shh!!)
Its nice to have a 'break' from being a mum a couple of days a week and it does make you appreciate the time you have off with your LO.
But if I had the choice I would chose not to work at all.

Good Luck

I'm not going back til september but tbh the thought of leaving Amelie makes my stomach turn maybe its b/c she'll be going to a nursery instead of a family member taking care of her but ugh, im dreading it already. i might save up really hard so I can take the whole year but i doubt thats gonna happen.

I went on Maternity leave 2 weeks before Jack was born and went back as soon as the 9 months were over as I couldn't afford the 3 months off free! Of course I wish I didn't have to work but I am at college anyway so i was used to leaving him 3 days a week since he was 5 months old. Luckily we are moving country soon so I will be a full time mum

I have been on mat leave since March last year, 3 weeks before Hannah was due. I was originally due back to work in January but extended it to the full year and now have to go back in less than 2 weeks time! Luckily though I have 14 weeks holidays to use up so will be going back 2.5 days a week for approx 6 months on full time pay.

If we could live without the extra money I dont think I would go back at all but being the main earner of the family its for the best I go back and I it will also be nice to be "me" again a couple of days a week.

I'll be going back to work in May sometime after only 6 months off, its all we can afford unfortunately. The thought of going back is absolutely panicking me. I'm only going back 3 days a week hopefully and Erin will be staying with Grandma during those days but the thought of leaving her is killing me. If I had the choice I would stay home and raise her although I never thought I would feel that way - I thought I'd be itching to get back to work, but I'm so NOT!
