Well, my husband and I are trying to figure ourselves out. (I know that's vague.)
I hoping in this to post all my experiences (when I am online at a decent hour-it's now 1:30AM!!!) and gather information from everyone else on this forum, as well as impart information as much as I can.
Here's to coping through knowledge....

My DH was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 6 weeks of age. In an attempt to keep my train of thought, I am strictly going to discuss the impact this has (had?) on his reproductive system.
A key to understanding all this: Cystic Fibrosis patients have thicker mucus throughout their bodies. In women, the vaginal mucus is sometimes so thick that sperm cannot penetrate to reach the egg. In men, the mucus clogs the vas deferens and causes it to atrophy; in some cases the vas deferens is no longer present connecting the seminiferous tubules to the "outside world", so to speak.
This sets up two main complications when trying to conceive.
It makes it hard to get pregnant naturally, because of the unknown amount (if any) sperm being expressed.
It presents problems when trying to procure sperm to gauge motility and so forth, causing typical fertility evaluations to require more invasive procedures.
Now, having said that, my DH has one of the least mild mutations of CF and we have high hopes that his analysis will show that we are "easy" to impregnate. Read: that he will have a "typical" problem, one not especially CF related, and the "fix" will be easy.
So that's his ball of wax. Now, to me.

I should've been diagnosed with PCOS at 17, but my doctors wouldn't listen.
At 17, shouldn't I have believed nothing was wrong? But I knew something was up, and it killed me that no one listened. I'm just glad it was not anything life-threatening.
I began having periods every other month like clockwork after a DRASTIC (unplanned!!) loss of weight. I figured, "I'll just have to deal with it until my body adjusts."
But I gained the weight back, and still I wasn't regular-even a year later. My OB-GYN ignored the signs, as did my GP. I was put on birth control. I tried several different kinds, ending with the NuvaRing (WHICH I LOVE!!). I had begun losing weight, my skin was very clear, and I had no mood swings. Loved it!!
At 22, now married and thinking baby thoughts, I took the fact of my insurance no longer covering my BC as a sign to come off of it. This was November 2007.Instantly, the acne and the bloating returned, and I knew what had happened. The little "mixup" that my ovaries were dealing with had not cleared up during my years of hormone therapy.
I had that last "regular" period in November. I then had a "PCOS" period in Jan, and did not have another one until after my yearly OB-GYN appt in March when I was diagnosed. I was given a 10 day run of Aygestin (norethindrone) to start a period and directed to come back for cd3 labs.
The particular cause of my PCOS is an excess of testosterone. I had always suspected this as I have more body hair than most of my friends, and have always had worse acne troubles. I have since been on Aldactone (spironolactone) to minimize the effects of the extra testosterone.
Anyone have a similar story?
Even being on the Aldactone, my cycles went like this:
* April: induced cycle for labs
* May: started on my own
* June & July: waited close to 60cds, then induced
* August: started on my own
* September: started early...?!
So, I am still very much in the "every other month" pattern, but I know it's still very early in the treatment process. It just gets so frustrating looking like a pre-teen boy (acne), a woman slightly pregnant (bloating), and feeling constantly like I'm about to start a period!

I have now had TWO periods in September! I understand that I needed to have periods, but a 24 and a 19 day cycle both resulting in periods in September (starting the 2nd and 21st) when my average is 34 days......
......this makes me think that I'm not ovulating. Or that I potentially have a ridiculously short fertile window.
I am supposed to be in my OPK window, not starting my period!!!!!
WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!:hissy:
This would be why I have two different tickers in my sig right now. I'm trying to make sure of whether or not this is a real period, or just a weird bleeding incident.
Hope everyone else is having better luck than I! :dust:

Ok, I think this was simply a bleeding incident, even though I've never had ovulation bleeding before.
First time for everything, huh? :)
Anyways, feeling much better now that it's resolved and seeming to be back on track.
Anyone else have something like this?
