Constipation...any safe remedies for a BF Mom?

Hi everyone;

I had my little girl 9 days ago and have been dealing with constipation since. I am also breastfeeding and do not know of any safe remedies in dealing with this. I am worried that straining down there will make it worse in regards to the healing process (I had a few stitches). Thanks.

did your dr. not give you stool softeners? If not, you can take some dulcolax. I took it for about 10 days after having Bella and it worked wonders. Sometimes I'll still take it if I get clogged up.

i took 15ml of lactulose once a day that is what midwife recommended

I was advised Fybogel which you can get in most pharmacies.

If not either go to docs and see what they say or get down a chemist as they can help too.

How about prune juice? I'm using it at the moment...

Metamucil and stool softners have worked for me. Just be sure to take them daily.
