After two weeks of 'sniffing' we now have it confirmed that OH has down regged. So yesterday the injections started - she hid behind a cushion whilst I had to stab her!!
So far no real side effects, she has had a couple of bad headaches and strangely feels permanently cold. We have a scan booked for next Wednesday but unfortunately that is my first day back at work after the long summer holidays so won't be able to go
Egg collection, if everything works, is set for the week beginning 8th September. This seems to have come round so quickly.

Just wanted to wish you both the best of luck. :hugs:
Do you mind if I ask a couple of personal questions? Tell me to sod off and mind my own business if you want.
How did you decide which one of you would have the IVF? How have you find your fertility specialists have been towards you both? Do you have a friend who is your donor or did you get your donor through the ACU?
I have a friend who is contemplating donor sperm and she's been met with a total brick wall from her GP on the subject. She's single rather than part of a couple so not the same situation as you two.

Glad to hear all is going to plan, and I hope all goes well with the scan on Wednesday...
I was just wondering the same as Helen - how did you decide who would have the treatment? I hope we're not being too nosey...

No your not being too nosey - it was quite straightforward really OH is older than me and so has less time to go through the treatment as body clock is ticking. I am also doing well in my career, earn more than my OH and didn't want to take a break. Maybe in a few years time i will also go through this. If we go to the same clinic we should be able to use the same donor.
Our GP was fantastic, I think he was quite excited that we didn't go to him with a cough or a cold. He actually had to do some thinking and enquiring about where to go from here.
I think I spoke too soon about the side effects, OH not well last night, hot flushes one minute, freezing cold the next, feeling tired, couldn't stand spicy food (which is usually a favourite). Oh yes, and the injection hurt last night - I feel awful when I hurt her (she was still hiding behind a cushion!)

How wonderful your GP was so good with you, and what a wonderful idea to use the same sperm donor ...
Hope the side effects ease off and all goes well...

Thanks so much for answering my questions.
And ouch! at injections. I found it helped to stick an icepack wrapped in a tea towel on before them and a big cuddle afterwards. Also, try not to rub them too much as I have a few permanent bruises as reminders of my jabs.
