Oh god, I'm just back from my kitten Poppys 6th appointment since being spayed and I have just paid my bill......
£284!!!!
She has reacted really badly to anesthetic and all the antibiotics they have been giving her, hence the cost
And she still isn't on top form yet, so there could be more bills, she's going back on Monday so I just hope that she is fine by then!:hissy:

Oh :( vet bills are terrible. I have pet insurance for all my animals and it's came in quite useful a few times. One of my cats has a flea allergy and needs antibiotics quite regularly so if i didn't have any I'd be royally skint!

Poor little Poppy!
And your poor wallet!
But I am so glad you are the kind of pet owner who makes sure kitty is all right.
I have actually just started a separate Kitty Health Fund account. I have two indoor cats, so that limits the health hazards, but I decided to have an emergency fund rather than pay out pet insurance (it doesn't cover regular check-ups and vaccinations, so it doesn't really work for me).
Last night I had the most ridiculous episode of preggo blues, and the kitties were so intuitive - they just seem to know when I need to be purred better!
Worth every penny, those cats!

Boo to the bills. We took ours in for an arthritis check-up, his meds and his nails clipping and it was about £70. We can't get insurance because they are rescue dogs and we don't know how old they are (which seems generally to be a pre-requisite) plus we'd need to get a whole world of jabs for them which added to the excess on claims and the premium would be way more than we've ever paid or are likely to pay in vets bills! We do it because we love them I suppose! (The pets, not the vets!)
