mine was private and cost £50 in the portsmouth area
I think you can only get an early scan if you have previously had complications, otherwise you have to wait until 12 weeks.
They call it a dating scan where I went which at a place called first view imaging.
You may be worth searching in google for dating scan to find some websites in your area x

£50-£75 has been quoted by ladies in my area who've had a dating scan before 12 weeks privately.
If you do pay for one after 8 weeks, don't tell your midwife as there have been a lot of cases recently (all over the UK) where ladies have been refused a 12 week scan on the NHS, as anything over 8 weeks is considered to be replacing the 12 week dating scan. If you pay privately you can request that the scan is kept quiet!

I had a feeling that might happen so I have decided not to tell my m/w, i'm going for a scan tomorrow when I'll be 8 weeks.
I think its so wrong that it may replace the 12 week scan.

They try to cut costs wherever they can! Not nice for us though as we rely on these scans for reassurance so they are much needed.
Good luck for tomorrow :)

Everywhere is different depending on your NHS trust. Mine gives every woman an early scan to confirm pregnancy and give a date xxx

The ladies who have had this trouble (on an IVF forum I use) have told others to book a scan and tell the private clinic not to send results to their GP's. I can go to a place called Proscan in my area and I'd just ring them directly to book it.
