Yesterday I continued to have bad morning sickness. Almost the moment I got out of bed, I ran to the bathroom to throw up. When I did, there was some blood in in. My husband was there and saw it too and we were both pretty worried.
It just so happens that we had been invited for lunch at the home of a local doctor, so we asked him about it. He told us that it's nothing to worry about too much, unless there's a ton of blood. He says it's caused by small tears throughout my esophagus that are caused by irritation from all the throwing up. I can't believe that as I wrap up my first trimester, the morning sickness is getting worse!!
Anyone else ever have this?

My sickness has stopped now, but i had a little blood in it sometimes, it worried me a little, but there was only a tiny amount and it was only when i was (TMI) wretching alot before hand.

I'm so pleased you posted this. I too have been suffering for a couple of weeks now from bad morning / evening / feeling groggy all day sickness!
A couple of times now, in the morning I've seen very small amounts of blood in it and panicked a little so thanks for the reassurance.
Hope yours subsides soon hon...
:hugs:

It's called a Mallory-Weiss tear and is caused by increased pressure in the abdomen and occurs at the junction between the stomach and gullet. It is common in people who vomit/hiccup forcefully - which includes a lot of us! You may also notice your poo is darker for a day or 2 afterwards as this is what blood looks like when it breaks down in the gut. Most people heal spontaneously over several days. If the bleeding doesn't stop, you've vomited a lot of blood, you see a lot of blood or black stuff in your poo or feel dizzy and unwell then make sure you see a doctor but usually, it's nothing to worry about

I had this with my 1st pregnancy and threw up so much I went from 8stones 2lb to 6 stones 3lbs. Yep also bled loads when I was sick although it looked black instead of red most of the time. It was very frightening but Dr reassured me I wouldn't bleed to death:rofl:....I didn't:dohh:
