Well i thought it was time i started my own journal.

This is CD1 of TTC cycle 4. AF arrived today, i now know i have a short LP of 8 days :hissy: I'm taking action, any advice on how to lengthen it would be great.

Been to holland and barretts today and picked up B100 vitamin B complex and B6. The guy told me i don't need both as there is 100mg of B6 in the complex. Ordered my pre seed , phoning docs in the morning for an appoitment. Also phoning clear blue, who told me to call if my next cycle was between 21 and something days, if they have any left i can be on the trial Bought 2 bottles of Cabernet Sauvingnon and some clothes while i was out to cheer myself up. I'm enjoying a glass now, yum.

I just realised that if all goes well this cycle bubs will be born at the end of May, i was so upset thinking i had missed May, cos we always wanted a May baby. DH and i are May babies, and we got married in May so it's an uber special month, which i hope to make more special next year.

Thanks for looking in on my journal, and good luck with getting ur :bfp:

Right i'm back, the doctor was wonderful. She is sending me for a CD21 test and hubby to have his sperm tested (not sure how he is going to take that). She says they will test me this cycle and if needs be next and then if needed refer me to a fertility specialist. I'm just so pleased she is taking me seriously :happydance:

Hi girls, well still trying to be positive. DH was in a foul mood last night barely spoke to me, i'm sure it's the thought of the sperm test, but he says it isn't. Anyway he apologised this morning, so hopefully things are good now. Not much else to report so far today. Think :witch: is packing her bags to leave :happydance: and my pre seed arrived today :yipee:

DH is off to the doctors today, so hoping he will agree to test his spermies like my doctor asked for. Fingers crossed, will update later, if he disagrees i may have a very long rant :hissy: his doctor is rubbish so i'm a little worried. XXX

Hi girls, hope ur all ok?

Not been on much for a few days, been busy over the bank holiday with a wedding and a leaving party (some friends off to Oz, lucky sods).

So all is good here, just ordered another lot of pre seed so we can use it everytime from now untill O. I'm hoping to O at the end of this week begining of next.

Took DH sperm to the hospital today, in my cleavage  apaprently we have to wait 2 weeks for the results which is annoying as you know they have to test it there and then. Will get DH to call his Dr on friday to see if they have the results.

So were gonna be getting lots of :sex: in and hopefully catch that eggie so there will be no need for anymore tests. Also i think my cervix is on the move up :yipee:

Hi DaisyDuke just popping in to say hello and wish you luck for your cycle!

Did the hospital tell you to not worry if your hubby's test comes back with abnormalities. They say that sometimes men have to do a second test as they don't get too excited by the little plastic cup and so the swimmers don't play game! Hope all is ok for you guys and you get the little eggy this month! xx

That's pants, they just think it is something they do every day and don't realise we need it explained.

You probably know this but thought if you don't it might help: The male sperm tests need to be carried out within an hour of them being produced and they need to be kept at body temperature until handing them over. If you are called back for second tests they will be taken 12 weeks after the first ones, they say it takes that long to produce a completely new batch. We are still waiting for our second sample drop.

Not too great to see all these docs are adding to our worries, and they tell us to de-stress and not think about things.

all the best for this cycle xxxx

Well one hospital said they need it within 1 hour and didnt mention about keeping it warm (but they didn't have a slot for weeks) so i phoned another and the other said within 2 hours and try to keep it warm. So it was produced just gone 9:30 and i kept it warm till handing it over at 10:15 they put it in some metal things, will that help keep it warm? It was meant to be there for 10:30 (that was the official time) so i hope they didn't let it sit there for ages going cold. Do you think that will be ok. XXX

Hi Honey, just checking in on you cycle buddy!

Sorry I can help on the :spermy: front... although I guess you should 'assume' that the hospital know what they are doing (hard I know). If the results are inconclusive it could be that the standing time was too long for the little tadpoles and get another batch tested.

Sending you oodles of :dust:

I know, guess i'll just have to wait for the results :hissy:

Well today is CD11 and im ashamed to say my PMA has left the building, just been to buy some angus cactus and EPO just in case it may make any difference this far into my cycle. Am i right in thinking i should stop taking these after O?

I have noticed my temps being mad the cycle, there normally very stable untill O. I'm hoping this has something to do with the B6 maybe making my hormones work better and temporarily sending them wild, i don't really care as long as it results in a :BFP:

Oh I hope we o on the same day again cycle bud! :hugs: It's hard not to get stressed honey - it would be hard enough without the fact that biologically our hormones mess with our heads, but we have to deal with a stressful and difficult time AND cope with these damn stupid hormones. DH and my mum and dad have just added a load more stress to the situation. DH and i have our own business and one of our best customer has just announced there leaving us, were currently panicking trying to save them.

Then my mum and dad annouce there about to book a holiday for Saturday, which means i'm left with looking after all the horses and my mum's in particular is really old, so i worry like hell about him when there away. That also means i will be up at more random times cos there is so much to do on a morning, so my temps wont be stable. That also means they wont fly back till the following Saturday, and on the Saturday they get back my uncle and his wife are coming down (invited by my mum and dad to stay with them) so now they may have to stay at ours. Guess what, she's pregnant, i'm so happy for them and want to see them but i will be in the TWW then and AF will be due the day after they arrive cos of my short luteal phase, so i could really do with not being saturated with it all. Honestly i feel like breaking down, right now i can't cope

Thanks ZoeBunny sorry ur feeling rubbish to. I'm so scared cos i genuinly don't know if it will for me. I am so stressed now about my temps not being accurate cos as of saturday everything is being turned upside down for me now, and all the extra stress i could just really do without it. I'm so mad at my mum and dad they know what i'm going thro, also will probably be getting DH test results back while there away, so would have been nice t have some support. I feel so let down by them.

ZoeBunny
Aug 28th, 2008, 15:26 PM
Their timing isn't great admittedly, but I'm sure if they knew how upset you'd be beforehand they wouldn't have booked it for that week. I'm sure you will still have your DH's support.

As for the temp timings issue, try not to let it get you down. I usually have to get up around 3:30am most mornings to put the dog out for a wee. Since we both work he sometimes doesn't drink any of his water in the daytime (I think in case he needs to pee) and then when we get home he can drink 2 whole bowls full. So nature takes its course and my sleep routine is ruined. I normally get up at 5:45 for work and temp then. If you haven't had enough rest when you temp tick the 'sleep deprived' button in the symptoms section on FF so it will know that your temp might be inaccurate.

Most of all, try not to stress yourself out too much. Easier said than done I know :hugs:

DaisyDuke
Aug 28th, 2008, 15:28 PM
They booked it less than an hour ago  they really are that selfish, i even cried when my mum said they are thinking of it about 30 mins before they booked it. They genuinly don't care.

Ur so right i really need to relaz and let go, thanks for the support i really do appreciate it. :hugs:

Aww Daisy! :hugs::hugs: Hate to see you feeling so low chicken. Listen hun, don't worry about your temps too much. I mean, it's not actually gonna stop you ovulating, you might just not be able to pin ov down so easily, but that's not so terrible is it? Take your temps when you can, and if your chart looks screwy, screw it! Go by your body - watch your cm - that's not going to be affected by early rising. I know it's a toughie and I can understand you being really angry at your folks, but if there's nothing you can do to change the situation, try to find something about it which is a positive. May be it will be enjoyable looking after the horses in the early morning when no one else is about -? May be you will have a bit of me-time to ponder stuff and sort your head out a bit? Just trying to find something good out of this :hugs: feel free to slap me! And, you know what, you can cope, and you can do a damn good job of it! You are a strong lady chick and you'll get through it. Roll on Monday eh? :hugs::hugs::hugs: xxxxx

Morning girls, well i had REALLY painful ovualtion pains last night, good god they hurt, so i'm telling myself it's a huge FAT healthy eggie :yipee:

I promised myself i wouldn't syptom spot this month, but 1 DPO and i have started  well i tried.

So i'm so sure i O yesterday but cervix is still high  last month it has dropped by about 2pm on the day of O, so hoping this is good. Also had some EWCM this morning (of poor quality) maybe it's a hormone surge cos we caught the eggie, or at least i'm hoping. Think we will BD tonight just in case, i hope it was yesterday as i have my CD21 bloods tomorrow and they may not work if i didn't O then.

My temp was higher than yesterday, but not my highest temp this month, but i looked on last months cycle and 1DPO it was the same high but not the highest of the month, so hopefully this is all good.

Well today had another temp rise, so just one more for FF to confirm O but looking good. Got to go for my CD21 bloods in a bit, obviously i'm hoping i will find out i'm pregnant next week and i didn't need them

I have lots of CM which is very watery but a little creamy, and my cervix is still quite hish which is different to last cycle. I promised myself i wouldn't sympton spot this time, well that's gone out the window. However i am trying to only really note things that are different this cycle, cos obviously any symptoms i thought i had last cycle were a load of rubbish. Zoebunny and Magic have u O???

Well i'm now not feeling positive at all i feel really emotional and worried. Have just been thinking about my 8 day LP and even if my egg is fertilised what are the chances of it fully implanting by then. Well the answer is no chance. I have been looking at threads in TTC about when implantation happens and when people get there positive tests, and the replies just remind me of how unlikely it is to happen for me with a LP of 8 days

Well try not to get too down:hugs:. When you get your blood test results it will be all systems go. Low progesterone is easy to treat, if that's the cause of the short lp. At least you are being proactive about this and you know about your cycles and what not. It's much better that way than to just leave it up to chance for ages and not know that there is a problem. You will get your bfp hun. May be you have to get the lp sorted first, but that's totally do-able! :hugs::hugs:

Thanks babe :hugs: you have made me feel a little more hopefull. I don't really know what CD21 tests are for i thought it was to confirm O? Is there any other reason than low progesterone for a short LP?

I should stay positive cos one of the girls in LTTC used B6 and here LP increased by 2 days, so i guess i should be asuming my LP is gonna be longer this cycle therefore giving me a better chance.

Thanks for the support.

I think the cd21 test does check for o, as well as general progesterone levels. If you haven't got high progesterone then you haven't ov'd basically, but also the actual levels are important. I (and my gyno) know that I'm oving, but I'm still having the cd21 (next monday for me) to see what my post o levels are. If the levels are low, that can cause a short lp (like you) or pre-af spotting (like me). From what I've read, the actual causes of low progesterone are a few. Hang on a tick and I'll dig out some of my bookmarks for ya! BRB

Gosh I must be really lucky - the waiting game in the UK sounds like crap! I haven't had to wait for anything - got a gyno appt, got my cd3 and will have cd21 all the the space of the 21 days! I will get my results by Wednesday next week and will see the gyno again on that day. I feel like buying you a plane ticket over here so you can get stuff done more quickly! Hey Daisy, don't feel down.

You've been doing your best this cycle, taking supps etc to lengthen your LP and you haven't even had it yet. I bet you are longer than 8 days this cycle... you only need 10 to massively up your chances, but it is still possible.

Don't get upset about something that hasn't happened yet ok??? Won't do you any good.

FF has now confirmed O :yipee: and i have looked at my other cycles and this one is slightly different at 3DPO my temps have previously been high but a tiny bit lower than the day before (FF still always confirmed O) and today at 3DPO there rose again, so i'm hoping that is a sign my progesterone is a bit better this cycle, so hopefully my luteal phase will be better.

Morning girls, well i haven't been running to the toilet since last night. I'm a little confused cos i took my temp and it said 36.84 (last 2 days 36.84) but it said the battery was nearly dead? So i took it again and it was a definate 36.94 (same as the last 2 days) i still hadn't got up had a drink spoke or anything, and within a minute of it being in my mouth so only a minute past the first temp is was up to 36.9, the second time i took my temp, it didn't seem to be struggling with the battery. So which one do i beleive? Needless to say i'm off to get a new batery today.

Also have loads of creamy CM it looks like paste not lotion and it was a cream colour where mine is normally quite white, also there is a funny smell to it, i noticed the smell yesterday to, it smells of a food but can't pin point what to describe it.

I also feel a bit sick?

Hun, I would bet $10000000 that you do ovulate. When I took my charts to my gyno, he looked through and said that I definitely O because I have the temperature jumps - and so do you babes! The problem can be low progesterone after ov - progesterone doesn't cause ov, it gets produced after ov, so if you have some, you o'd. Problem is that if the levels are not good enough, your af will kick in early - sound familiar? :hugs:

Yeah just been looking at your FF page. It's hard to tell cos the first month doesn't have a lot of pre-ov temps, but I think it's possible you o'd on cd13 which would make the lp for that month a healthy 13 days - did you check cm or anything back then? The cycle before that, without the temps, was a whopping 31 days - so maybe you did have a long lp then? I am rooting for ya anyway hun (and for your LP!). I really think it could just have been a one off last month and I really hope this month not only is your LP gonna behave but your gonna get a sticky little bean at the end of it!!! xxxx

No nhs doctor, we can't afford to go private, but i'm getting so desperate so we may be adding to our already huge credit card debt.

I'm calling the chinese medicine man in the morning he wanted to see what my doctor said as he didn't want his treatment to contradict the non existent treatment i'm getting on the NHS.

You don't have to wait for anything - I was put on them in my first month of ttc! (Didn't get the bfp tho, did i!). They available over the counter in pharmacies here too. I asked a gp friend about them and she said that british gp's don't prescribe them - they prefer the testing bloods after failure of ttc route. I wonder why? :hugs::hugs:

Heya Daisy - I've just been surfing for info for you. Guess what, on the NhS websites search boxes, "luteal phase" has 0 results. There is another website which docs use when they don't know what to suggest http://cks.library.nhs.uk/infertility/management/detailed_answers/initial_investigations/initial_investigations_in_a_woman

shows that docs at least should have heard of the luteal phase, but there is no mention of luteal phase defect. I've scoured the UK sites - UK docs obviously don't believe it exists because it just does not show up in searches!

Bizarre considering that if you do a worldwide google there are literally thousands of results for luteal phase defect, like this one http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/001482.htm

Interestingly, the UK NHS website tells docs that 30% of infertile women have unexplained infertility. Are they missing something here do you reckon?

The more I delve into the the more mad I get! :grr:

Loo
Sep 8th, 2008, 23:41 PM
If you search in google scholar there are tonnes of papers on LPD....although some are in hamsters!! I think the problems seem to be that its controversial and also that testing for it is not accurate (as in testing the hormonal levels, as its not just a short luteal phase).

Check out this one:
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/119536964/abstract

which showed that short luteal phases were equally prevalent in fertile and non fertile women (8% and 9%)

if 8% of women who have babies have a short luteal phase, then there is hope for you!!! so dont get too despondent. x

I think Loo is right. Because it's hard to prove, doctors don't mention it. I suppose they can only discuss things which have a solid grounding in research. But I still think it's strange that it seems to be mainly the UK doctors who dismiss lpd. Since taking progesterone supplements is the medication recommended by the International Council On Infertility Information Dissemination http://inciid.org/printpage.php?cat=infertility10d&id=7, and they are harmless, it does strike me as strange that uk doctors won't even try them out. Presumably doctors over here have access to some different research than the UK docs.

Daisy I think it's highly unlikely your doc is going to listen to you. I don't think most docs take kindly to being told their job (even if they need to be told!). You could broach the subject as a more general kind of query - ask whether it's possible to try progesterone supplements just to see if they have any effect - appeal to the doc's sense of discovery... just depends how open-minded your doc is hun I suppose. :hugs:

Hi Daisy, I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a rubbish time this month. Is there any way you could see a different doctor within the NHS, perhaps a different practice or just a different GP within the existing one? I agree with the rest of the comments and individual oppinion of the doctors makes a massive difference on how they will treat you. Otherwise the family planning clinic sounds like a good start point, it seems really important to me that someone listens to you properly :hugs:

After that i'm giving up as i don't have the strength to keep pushing this to be taken seriously.

Dh is off to the doctors at 5:20 so we will know the truth about his SA then. i'm sure were gonna be plesently suprised.

 about suppliment addicts

My lucky clear blue digi arrived this morning very kindly sent from Monkeh, it's the other one from when she got her :bfp: I feel very hopeful it will be lucky, cos i refused to buy a digi before i got a :bfp: so the digi could confirm it. DH and i have said we wont beleive it till a digi spells it out. So now i have one in my test box, all ready and eagerly waiting to tell me the best news of my life. Thanks Monkeh :hugs:

Hey girls, well he just caled me on the way back from the doctors.

He still thinks there is cause for concern, but i don't think he knows what he is talking about. Cos although the morphology isn't great his sperm count is 2.5 times higher than it needs to be to be classed as normal. So he has more sperm that the average so who cares if a few extra die, surely the count makes up for that. I'm gonna take the results to my doctor on Tuesday.

Hope u all have a feb weekend. XXX

I don't know anything about SA - but a high count is good though. Doctor's don't always know everything.

Wellnthe doctor said nothing about a high count, he never mentioned the count, that's just my interpretation of the results. I'm confused.com!!!

Does he mean that the abnormal morphology count is 2.5x higher than it should be? Rather than the actual total count? Suppose your doctor might be able to clear it up next week.

Theres a couple more links that give you a 'spermy overview' below, but I am not sure they add to what you've already researched.

Have a good weekend x

sorry just read your thread in TTC and realised my first comment is pointless cos you've got the actual numbers to show count IS high!! Soz and ignore me....

DaisyDuke

1.5 i mean, this is the detail i put on a thread.

So DH went to the doctors, to have the results explained the dr's still says it's bad but i'm not so sure.

Count
DH, 50x106. Normal results are, 20x106, so he has a sperm count 1.5 times higher than it needs to be classed as normal.

Motility
DH, 46% or more. Normal results are, 50% or more (barely lower than ideal)

Morphology
DH, 20% normal. Normal results are, 30% or more normal (lower than ideal)

So motility is barely lower than the ideal, and morphology is officially low. However my thinking is does it really matter if it's a bit low as he has 1.5 times more sperm that the average sample. So am i right in thinking that his morphology is equivalent to 50% normal if he had the the lower sperm count (count that is still classed as normal)?

I hope that makes sense, what do u think?

I have no idea what the morphology means but it really doesn't sound too bad - to me at least.

Getting a little nervous for all this tets on Tuesday as i'm not really sure what she is doing.

I have a sneaky suspicion i may be ovualting earlier this cycle, im about 5 days ahead of myself. I normally O on CD15, and get fertile CM and my cervix goes to medium at about CD10. I'm CD 6 and my CP is medium and i have watery CM, fertility friedn suspects i could be fertile, i think i may O in 5 days, gonna start opk today. This could be down to the maca and agnus cactus.

No worries chick. Agnus cactus and maca, both u can order online or from a health food shop. There both suppose to help with fertility, maca also good for men's spermies. I'm not 100% about making O earlier, but im sure mine is coming early this month. I'll try anything, good luck, i think u should defo get some. Let me know how u get on. XXX
