Hello :hi:

So I have finally made it over here due to much encouragement and prodding from the TTC girls who I guess are getting fed up with me hanging out in their patch now!

I didn't really expect to get my positive this cycle to be honest as my cycles have been playing hide and seek with me for the last 7 months but those temps just kept on staying high after ovulation finally hit on CD 57 so there was nothing left to do but test to confirm all the suspicions!!!
I got my :bfp: on August 9th 2008 at 8.45am. Me and hubs are both over the moon and still sitting up on :cloud9: right now! :happydance:

For those who don't know me, i'm 28 and have been married 2 years to the most wonderful man I could ever have hoped for. I am a research science technician but am currently taking time out from my career to start our family. I was commuting to work and would end up out of the house from 7am to 7pm and it was exhausting. We didn't think those hours would be conducive to TTC so we decided I would take a break over the summer after coming back from NZ to see what happened!! :happydance: Guess my summer break has just been extended by a few months!!!

I have my first Doctor appt with my GP on Tuesday morning. Quite nervous as it will be the first time I have actually said out loud to someone other than DH that I am pregnant! Doesn't help that my usual GP has retired just the other week and so I have to see someone new!! Silly Doctor, didn't he realise I was about to get my :bfp: and needed to see him!!! :dohh:

Symptoms wise I have been rather lucky so far, I think! My boobs are killing me, never known them to be so painful and I have mild nausea that is like white noise in the background constantly. I'm a little more tired during the day but not enough that I need a nap and I am eating normally, not off my food and no M/S as yet. :happydance:

Not much else to add but I look forward to getting to know you all and sharing the pregnancy journey! Hope you all have a fab weekend because unless you haven't noticed,
IT'S FRIDAY!!!! :happydance::yipee::wohoo:

Well I managed to get through the weekend without blabbing all to my mum and dad. :happydance: It was my little sisters birthday on Sunday so I thought it would be a bit selfish to announce that I was pregnant on her day. The only problem was that I had to decline a glass of wine which is not normal for me as I usually have a wee glass with my mum and sister while we catch up on the gossip!! :dohh:

The nausea is getting slightly stronger and i'm losing my appetite :( I can eat if something is put in front of me but if asked what I want to eat I don't want anything!! Despite my lack of appetite my wee belly was bloated all weekend which does not look good on a 5 foot tall size 8 frame but after a few good old bum burps i'm looking a little more normal this morning. Goodness knows what i'll be like when I get an actual bump cos no amount of passing wind will deflate a baby bump!!!

All in all I had a pretty great weekend actually. Lots of relaxing and watching the olympics...which was fab this weekend! Did anyone see the mens quad rowing final? It was AMAZING!! :happydance: Hope you all had a good weekend too and I will be back to stalk the journals later on today! :hugs:

Hi hun :hugs: We are thinking we will tell my parents once I am about 8 weeks gone and we aren't telling DH's parents until just before we go on holiday which will be about 10 weeks gone....DH's parents are kind of weird so not sure how they will react to the news and also we can't trust DH's brother not to say anything to his grandparents before we get a chance! :dohh:

Ooh, I watched the rowing! :) Olympic sports are the only sports I'm actually interested in! Did you see Bolt winning the mens 100m? Amazing!! And he was messing about waving his arms around for the last 15m. He could have gone faster I think!

How'd you explain declining a glass of wine?! lol. I think I'd probably have blabbed to my Mum. Our plan is not to tell anyone til 12 weeks, but, we'll see how long that lasts!

Curiosa: The In-Laws were not in the least bit excited when DH and I got engaged and bought a house...in fact they asked DH to reconsider and think about renting with me instead just in case we didn't work out! To top it off when we eventually set a date for our wedding we told DH's parents to let their parents and brother/sisters know to keep June clear but they thought we wouldn't go through with it so didn't tell anyone so DH's grandparents had booked a holiday when we were booked to be married! Luckily the grandparents were very accomodating and moved their holiday for us. :happydance: So to say we aren't sure what to expect when we tell them we are carrying their first grandchild (and not their golden child :grr: another story for another day!) would be an understatement! Gosh i've gone on bit there!! Just shows what a contentious issue the in-laws are for me!!

Monkeh: oh yeah I saw the 100m!! Bolt was unbelievable and to think he pulled up in the finishing metres :dohh: he could have smashed the world record by way more than he actually did but it was cool to watch him dance over the line!!
As for the not drinking, I made out as if I was hungover from the night before and couldn't handle anything to drink! Not sure it was bought though as it doesn't normally stop me having a glass!!

Hope the m/s doesn't hit you too bad - I do know how you feel though. I can NEVER figure out what I want to eat!!! actually nothing really, but I'm forcing myself as its the only thing that makes the nausea go away. Mine hit full force at 6wk3days - I took note! and its still goin' strong...

Not sure yet. We had planned to go to Florida but have luckily hadn't booked anything as I wouldn't be able to go on any rides so that would have been so dull!! We are now thinking somewhere on the Med, not too far to fly and it will be nice and warm and hopefully relaxing!! My first GP appt was this morning. I was really quite nervous about it, almost as if I was expecting the Dr. to dismiss my claims that I am pregnant!! As I said previously, my old Dr. retired recently so I got a new one and found out it was a lady Dr. so was quite pleased about that, unfortunately my new Dr. is the worst mumbler in the world! I seriously could not make out a single word she said it was a nightmare!! :hissy: I had to say to her at one point, i'm sorry but i'm very hard of hearing (while pointing out the hearing aid) and i'm finding it difficult to hear what you are saying. Normally this is enough for bad speakers to make more of an effort, not for this woman though!! :dohh: She is also going by the date of my LMP for the pregnancy despite me saying that this was a long cycle and I know I ovulated on the 24th of July as I was taking my BBT. That means she has my due date as February in my records which is completely wrong!! I now have to wait for the ante-natal clinic to get in touch with me with a date for my blood test and scan but I guess I wont be waiting long since they think I am 2 1/2 months pregnant!! :happydance:

Not much else going on, symptoms are pretty much the same as yesterday so not too bad really. The weather up here is beyond rubbish and makes me want to get back into bed with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book....you would never guess that it's still summer here!! I'm almost tempted to put my heating on, the cost of it puts a dampner on that plan though!!

Hope every one is well out there in cyber land and having a super Tuesday!!! :wohoo:

Ahh, I love yr pregnancy journal hun! It just makes me feel happy for some reason!! Hee hee!

Sorry bout the mumbling doc -- she sounds like a bit of a moron to be honest. I hate it when doc's dismiss our knowledge of our bodies -- like refusing to believe yr date of ovulation! It makes me spitting mad! If I ever get pregnant I will just minus two weeks from my date of ov and claim that was when I had my LMP! (I ov early so conventional estimates would also not wash). But yay on getting a scan early as a result!

Hmm, a cuppa hot choc & a good book sounds like heaven to me!

Anyways, do you realize that according to your doc, you found out you are pg AFTER me and you're due BEFORE ME?!!? woah. Although if she's right that's pretty freaky and you're nearly in 2nd tri!!! :D

:hugs: to ya hon!

Yup my doctor sucks!! I think the fact that I have mega long cycles confused her and she thinks I am almost 3 months pregnant and haven't noticed! :dohh: Not that there is anything wrong with being almost 3 months pregnant and not noticing!! It's just not very likely when you are TTC to not notice it!!!

Not sure how my "real life" friends would respond if I was to open a conversation with my latest bowel movements or what I discovered the last time I checked my cp!! I think they would probably stop coming round for coffe and cake though!!

LOL OH well you can proove her wrong at your scan, means you'll get extra one thought which is pretty cool! Unless I suppose midwife believes you!

It's pretty good now cos it's into the final stages so all the crappy/funny choirs have been knocked out!! :happydance: DH actually had a right giggle watching x factor with me last week so he might not complain too much this week but we shall see, he likes to throw the odd macho wobble and pretend like he doesn't enjoy watching camp cabaret shows!! :bodyb:

Your right about Scottish Fish and chips but there are no better fish and chips than east coast fish and chips and Anstruther is the Big Daddy, so fresh and totally yummy! Morning all! :hi:

Got the details of my appt through the post on Saturday! :happydance: I've to go to my local maternity hospital for my booking appt and scan on Wednesday this week at 14:10pm! :yipee:Hopefully DH will be able to get time off work at short notice so he can come along but as he worked 4 hours on Sunday there, i'm sure that wont be a problem....I hope!!

Had a lovely weekend. :D Drove up to St. Andrews on Saturday and went for a walk around the old town and a wander through some of the shops then ended up spending a wee fortune on a carpet cleaner, a George Forman Grill, new dishware and an iron. Not exactly what we planned to do with our Saturday afternoon drive but fun none the less!! We were suppose to head from St. Andrews down the east coast of Fife through to Anstruther and the much talked about fish supper that I was dying for. However with a boot full of shopping and an eagerness to put our carpet cleaner together (yes I know we are sad!!) we headed home instead and picked up suppers from our local chippie, not the same quality obviously but still very tasty! :happydance:
Sunday was a bit of write off as DH had to work as his boss fell of his bike last weekend and broke his wrist. Seems to have been a pretty bad break as he had an operation on the monday to put a plate in it. Anywho as the boss is off on sick, DH had to go in and run some reports in his place meaning we didn't get anything other than our weekly visit to Tescos done yesterday but hopefully the extra hours there mean he will get Weds afternoon off!!

Symptoms wise its all pretty samey for me. BB's still killing me, the pain is ridiculous some days and makes getting comfy in bed a real nightmare! Still got a constant feeling of nausea but I feel ok while i'm eating and i'm still not off any food. Only feel really, really crappy when i'm not eating which sucks as thats about the majority of the day!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!:hugs:

:rofl::rofl: OMG!! it sends you bonkers doesn't it? i went in the kitchen this morning to do LO's milk - like i do every morning and i must've been stood in the kitchen for a good 4 minutes wondering what the hell i had gone in there for!!! DS came in the end and said "where's my milk mummy?" - if i have to rely on a 2 and a half year old to get me thruogh the next 8 months there is seriously no hope for me!!!

I actually had to tell my DH off last night as he has this massive pile of "clean" clothes at the side of the bed that just grows bigger as the week goes on. I refuse to touch anything in this pile as the laundry basket is at the foot of the bed. Anyway he starts complaining that he has no boxer shorts (despite the fact that he has 24 in total) and where have I hidden them.....like thats my new hobby, hide and seek with his boxers.....so I ask him "are they maybe in your pile?" he replies "no, those are clean clothes why would they be there?". So I go over and lift a few t-shirts or something  and find a good half a dozen dirty boxers  Of course he has no idea how they got there and says I must have planted them there!!! :dohh:

Why does it lie where they drop it until we nag (like we promised ourselves we would never do!! :dohh:) or we pick it up for an easy life!!

My MIL still sews buttons and hems for DH as I refuse to do it!! I tell him I was too busy learning calculus and organic chemistry at school so had no time for home ec so if he wants it doing he either learns to do it himself or asks someone else!!:rofl:

I got so sick of the where are my boxers conversation I now buy him a new pair practically every fortnight. I go to the same shop and buy the same style, colour and pattern, and now he has that many shorts he never runs out. I doubt he actually realises that he owns about 7 identical pairs of each type he has! He also does the "where's my tennis shorts?" crap - he might play twice a week and the rancid things just sweat in a bag somewhere only to be found 10 minutes before he's serving and just get worn again. He does win a lot of games but I think he is using chemical warfare.... I have almost conquered that with getting him to put the stuff NEXT TO the washing maching, which is a break through. Does anyone else's bloke have the habit of putting boxers in with socks somehow rolled up in each leg, or is that a particular skill of my husbands?

Hope you had a lovely little celebration!

Hey and get that scan pic on!!!!!!!! What did your m/w or doc say about the EDD since YOU were right rather than them!??!? I find that HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! :D Some healthcare professionals take us for total dolts. Morning :D

So told my parents and the in-laws last night. My mum was over the moon as I knew she would be, she has been asking when we would make her a gran since we got married!! She even already has wool stored away for knitting a christening shawl and didn't want to start it incase she jinxed us so she is well happy that she can get started on it now!! The best part was despite having 3 kids of her own and 3 grand kids already when we showed her the scan and told her how far along we were she asked if we would be finding out the sex, I said i'm afraid so (mum disagrees with this practice but is fine if that's what we want), she then waves the scan and goes "so? What is it then?":rofl::rofl::rofl: I just peed my pants laughing and said we have to wait until my 19 week scan to see if we can see what it is, theres not much going on at 7 weeks!!!:rofl:

From my parents we headed to the in laws and despite not wanting to let BIL know as he has learning difficulties and boundary issues and so would likely tell all of DH's relatives before we get a chance he just wouldn't leave the room!! :dohh: So we had to tell him too and then warn him not to say a word to anyone about it!! Think his mum and dad were really happy but as usual it was a pretty muted response and the conversation moved immediately to a rain jacket that MIL had bought for £12!!:rofl::rofl:
Wendy, my in-laws also discussed what they would be known by: nana, granma, gran etc which was pretty cute so I guess they are happy!! :D

The best part of the scan yesterday was when I lay down the sonographer says "so we are 13 weeks or there abouts then" and I say "well no, my last period was 13 weeks ago, I reckon i'm 7 weeks pregnant today and due 16th April" 3 minutes later she has measured the bean and says "well you are pretty much spot on but we'll go with the measurements and that gives you a due date of 17th April":rofl::rofl: The urge to say "I told you so" was pretty strong at that point!! :D:D:D
Oh, and she also found that my Kidney on my left is a little lower than in should be and actually sits in my pelvis so I became a show and tell patient for the student sonographer!

Nausea was pretty bad yesterday, coming in real strong waves but I think that may have been due to the pint of liquid sloshing about in my stomach. Feeling not too bad today but only managed a fruit salad for brekkie but it was really tasty.

Magic-not sure about the community midwife visit, the hospital midwife didn't really explain why but it does seem a bit strange and a bit early. Maybe because i'm a first time mum????

Not taken a pic of the scan yet but I promise I will give it a bash, to be honest there isn't really much to see apart from a sac but when it was on the screen we could see the heartbeat!! :cloud9:

Not been up to much but had lunch and went shopping with my mum on Friday and on Sat me and DH tidied up the garden and went round the shops for a bit. Spent most of today inside as it is :rain: yet again but just finished a melted chocolate pudding with ice cream and it was scrummy (and I don't normally like chocolate!) so life is good!!
Nausea is doing its usual.....making me feel pants but not actually stopping me eating or making me sick so I can't really complain I guess. :D The only thing I seem to be "off" is diluting juice and even just water on its own :( which isn't good when i'm supposed to drink 8 glasses a day and so far I have only had 2 today! :dohh:

Melted choc pudding with ice cream... normally that would make my mouth water but at the mo' i've gotta say... too rich for my blood!! :D

Anyway, just wanted to check in and wish you a lovely day!
:hugs:

Maybe the choc pudding is a pregnancy thing? I don't normally like chocolate and usually only eat it the week before AF and even then I have to follow it up with a bag of savoury crisps to take the sweet taste away!!

I thought I was going to be having a good day today as far as m/s goes. I got up nice and early got a bit of housework done and even felt well enough for a full hours work out!! Since lunch however i've been feeling pants and I know I should go get myself a big glass of water but just the thought of it is turning my stomach! It does seem to be a bit of a pattern developing for me that lunch is too much to handle so I fear I will be on the soup again all week ( I had a cold meat salad sandwich today and although I finished it I feel poo now :() but maybe being on the soup isn't so bad as it counts as one of my 5 a day and also contributes to my 2 litres of liquid a day as well so it's not all bad! :D

I noticed the other night that my favourite "house pants" (you know the trousers you only wear inside and wouldn't dream of wearing outside!!) are getting too small for me!! I'm not impressed!!:hissy: I wouldn't mind if it was my belly that was getting bigger ( I would love a little bump!) but it seems to be my hips!! So I have added some squats to my exercise routine in the hope that it stops the expansion for at least a little while longer, but I still think I will be making a trip to matalan for a pair of cheap joggers so I feel comfy lounging about instead of feeling like a podgy mare!!

Not much else to report, hope you all had a good weekend!! :hugs:

Heya honey!
I bet money its a pregnancy thing - I'm off chocolate for that reason Im' sure! crazy! Hey, absolutely don't wanna preach, but careful w/ the squats eh? DO NOT lift too much! I'm sure that's one of the exercises I was told to give up 'cause it puts pressure on your back and stomach... Might wanna check it out just in case...
Sorry 'bout the m/s mine is terrible from lunch onward since Saturday again    I think I'll be having soup for dinner too... :(

Feel better honey!

I agree with wendy chick. My trainer at the gym told me to cut out the squats at least until i was 14 weeks as it puts too much pressure on your back and tummy as sm says. :hugs:

Don't worry hun, i'm using small weights and doing static squats....you know with legs shoulder width apart, weights by your side, back straight and then squatting down as if to sit in a chair so not working the back or abs too hard with that one mainly focuses the butt and thighs but I will make sure that it is ok to continue doing them as I don't want to be putting my body under any undue stress for vanities sake!! :hugs:

Hope you feel better too hun :hugs:

p.s. consider the squats stopped until further advice taken!! :hugs:

Had salad for tea last night and it went down not too bad but the oranges and grapes I had afterwards were a godsend! :cloud9: so yummy and tasty and made me feel much better, can't wait to have some more later!

Enjoy the oranges!! I ate 2 last night along with a big bowl of grapes and they were so good I could have just eaten them for my tea!!

Morning girls :hugs:

Feeling worse today and got hardly any sleep last night as I just couldn't breathe so i'm totally knackered today. Breathing constantly through my mouth seems to be making the feeling of nausea worse as well which isn't helping but I have a supply of oranges and hot drinks to get me through the day and i'm hopeful that as it's still just a head cold it will blow over soon and i'll be back to normal for the weekend.....of course no doubt DH will catch it and it will develop into a full blown Flu virus and chest infection as it almost always does!!

Take care girls, i'll just be lurking today but i'll be back chat happy when i'm feeling a bit better! :hugs:

Got a much better nights sleep last night, I can actually breathe through my right nostril now!! :yipee: Which is better than nothing I guess. Feeling really hungry today which I guess is probably tied to being sick and not really eating much yesterday, maybe nausea is going to give me a break today!!![-o<[-o<
Guess I have no excuse for not doing the housework today then.....damn!! Better get on with it I suppose, it has been neglected all week while I was feeling sorry for myself.

Hope all you girls have a good day!! :hugs:
