my poor LO seems to contantly be making straining noises. He always did in the night but now at 6 weeks it seems to b all day too. Especially in teh morning. AS soon as he feeds it starts. I assume it's trapped wind or trouble getting his poops out - they do come out after some starining adn wriggling but he can be making these noises for an hour or two at a time.

Is this normal????? He seems so unhappy. He doesnt scream, just strains and eventually may cry.

my LO been having the same problem, he is doing it just mornings and sometimes late nights... it must be colic and you can see the way he is forcing his tummy to poo... his tummy gets well hard wen he does that. i feel sorry for my poor lil baby, i give him infacol but i dunno what else to do to ease his pain...
but apparently after 3 mnths it dissapears they don`t hve colic anymre... some use dr brown bottles to help reduce colic but dunno if it works as i use avent ones...

hope your LO gets better soon...

if they are constipated then pop 1 teaspoon on pure orange juice into 1 oz of cool boiled water, it will work a treat for them, my health visitor advised me to do it

my little boy seems to have this problem too...I thought it might be because I'm still topping him up with formula and the mix of formula and breast might not be great for him. but now I don't know! Infacol doesn't seem to be working particularly well on him. I don't think he is constipated because his poos are like liquid...anyway I'm just ranting on about my baby's problems! I hope both Ted's and Jayden's troubles go soon!

The baby's digestive system is still forming and growing. The parastalis (the rippling movement of the intestines to move food through) is still new to baby and might be uncomfortable. Even small bubbles of gas might be uncomfortable for baby until they get used to it, until they can manage to burp on their own or both.

You'll probably find that at 10-14 weeks, baby is a bit more comfortable, and they start to burp on their own.

and as one of my books put it, it is really hard to poo laying down. I now sit Bren up in the morning when he is grunting and it works a treat.

Tabs was doing this too....she would only poo once a day! and then it was an explosion.
She now has a regular 3 a day.
The things i changed were.....i stopped infacol as i thought that might be the culprit and changed to the basic boots brand gripe water with almost every feed.I also changed to dr browns for her bottle feeds.
Touch wood she hasnt been having trouble pooing since i made those changes but as i did them at the same time im not sure which helped lol
