Hello and welcome everyone to the very first TESTATHON EVENT.


TESTATHON 18 MAY 2008

All members have been training for this task and have dedicated every effort to ensuring they are in with at least the slimmest chance possible. Each person is to be armed with a bag full of various home pregnancy tests ranging from el cheapo e-bay brands to the all singing, all dancing ridiculously overpriced Clearblue Digital tests designed to confirm pregnancy to women all over the world in a myriad of languages. Let's hope the contestants have bought their test sticks in a language they actually speak!

The following are some translations of the word pregnant for reference:

Swedish - gravid, havande
French - être enceinte
German - schwanger
Finnish - raskaana
Icelandic - pregnənt
Irish - torrach
Dutch - zwanger
Italian - incinta
Swiss German - gravida


How to post your photographs:

A simple way to attach pictures on the forum:

a/ Download pic to own computer, in a known directory
b/ Go to www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us)
c/ Browse to your pic
d/ Click "Host it"
e/ Copy the last link they provide -the Show to your friends one-
f/ Go to BnB and above your typing window there is a picture next to a globe, click on the picture button then paste the link to the picture
g/ Hit Post


Now for the rules:

All participants must carry out a home pregnancy test on Sunday 18 May 2008 and if possible take a photograph of their resultant test stick(s). Photographs are to be posted on the forum to share and compare. As we live in various time zones, it will be possible to post your results for 24 hours as soon as Sunday begins in your own time zone.

It might be beneficial for the site if we only post test sticks with a hint of a line or that wonderful clear BFP so that we don't clutter up the system with lots of photos of the same thing. I am sure you will all agree.

When you log onto the internet on Sunday morning, it may be worth your while checking to see who else is online and ask if they want to "play" at the same time as you. This should add to the excitement for those able to do so. You can just ask the question if you like as to who is awake and online, wait for say 30 minutes to see who replies whilst carrying out your test and taking your photograph(s).

Dummies guide to testing (no insult intended):

1/ Wake up and get your paraphernalia together including plastic cup (if required), test sticks, watch with minute hand and specs if needed.
2/ Widdle into your cup and leave cup in safe place away from pets & husbands (oh, same thing I guess).
3/ Check if anyone else is on line.
4/ Get ready to test at same time and carry out dip and squint actions.
5/ Wait 10 minutes (it's allowed) for test result.
6/ Give yourself time to come 'round if you've passed out with a BFP.
7/ Take photo of test stick (no cheating by colouring in a 2nd red line with marker ... we will know).
8/ Tell your online buddies you are ready to post photo.
9/ Post photo.
10/ Enjoy the fun.


It should be noted that HPT's may be carried out between now and the event and it is up to the individual to keep their photo until Sunday to share if they are lucky enough to get a :bfp: Of course if they cannot contain their excitement, this will be perfectly understood and they can opt out and scream and whoop whoop about it in the BFP forum ... no worries.

I've inserted an extra two lines into the rules of the Testathon that I am sure you will agree with. They are:

I think it would be better not to post lots of photos of blank test sticks because they are all going to look the same and it won't detract from the fun.

Well, I would have loved to start the Testathon on a high, but it was another :bfn:for me this morning. I'm not going to bother with the photo - we all know what it looks like.

Good luck to all the girls testing today....I'm only 3DPO so I will be starting to test next Sunday!!! (Yeah like I didn't test yeasterday just in case I was another one like Jolyn who got her AF but was really PG!!! :blush:)

i just came by to wish you loads of luck and love, congrats on your BFPS and those who got BFN you maybe testing early, and i hope you get them VERY soon!

Waaaaaaa! It's a :bfn: for me I'm afraid. But I suspected that. Still a day or so to go though as AF not due until Tuesday.

No surprise at only 7-8dpo (I OV really late), a :bfn: for moi!!!

Congrats to you all and for those who got :bfn: fingers crossed it was just a tad too early for you! I didnt test today as I think mine was a chemical pg, will see what the FPC say tomorrow! :)

a :bfn: for me :hissy: I expected it really though, not too sure where about in my cycle I am as I havn't had proper AF since my miscarriage. I have had a horrible metal taste in my mouth for three days though - Hope I'm testing too early!!! Congrats to all those with :bfp:'s

Hello everyone,

Just a concluding note to the thread to congratulate those who were lucky enough to get their :bfp: close to the day and to thank all the well wishers and passers by for showing their interest.

No doubt about it that there are plenty more positive results just waiting for us around the corner and the good luck wishes continue from here to eternity for all those women travelling on this wonderful journey of TTC. This Testathon was just a bit of fun and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I'd have enjoyed it better if I didn't get a stinky :bfn: but there you go ... I was in the majority at least.
