Becki's Last Minute Pregnancy Journal!

I did attempt to start one earlier but I never got round to writing in it so this is just a last minute thing as I only have about 8 weeks to go!

My pregnancy wasn't planned and I was on the Pill at the time. I'd been with my boyfriend for almost 7 months when I found out in October last year. At first I was in shock and couldn't get my head round it. I had only just started University but I knew that I couldn't get rid of my baby. My boyfriend was fully supportive which made me feel so much better.

I went to the doctors to confirm everything and they said they would send me a letter through about a hospital appointment. However when the letter eventually did arrive, it went to my parents address instead of mine. My mum, being a worrier, saw the envelope with the hospital logo on and was straight on the phone to me. After much asking she finally realised what it was for. I had been waiting to go down in person and tell my parents as I knew I was going to be killed! My mum was hysterical and so that night I went down to tell my dad. He didn't go as mad as I thought but seeing my mum in tears like that broke my heart and she kept blaming herself. She was only 20 when she had me so she hadn't wanted me to have a baby so young at 18.

Eventually my parents came round to the idea as did everyone else and they too have been really supportive. I've barely had to buy any baby stuff because everyone else has wanted to buy it for us!

I went for my first scan on 21st November and saw my little pea on the screen. I had a bit of a Rachel from Friends moment because all I could see was a blob and my OH could see the heart lol. My 20 week scan was on 13th Feburary and we were desperate to find out the sex. Seeing a human looking baby after seeing the blob on the first scan was so weird. I could see it kick and feel it at the same time! It was really lovely and the sonographer told us it was a girl. My OH who wanted a boy said 'but can't you sometimes be wrong?' to which she replied 'I don't think I am and I haven't been yet.' and *fingers crossed* that meant she was pretty confident because of all the girly stuff I've now bought!

As far as pregnancies go, so far I've had it pretty easy, no morning sickness and I haven't been particulaly hormonal, just nausea, slight water infection and a sore back. The results from my last blood test showed I was anaemic but iron tablets are helping sort that out. At my 28 week midwife appointment she told me my baby was growing well. My bump has finally grown so I look properly pregnant. And at the moment I'm loving people telling that I'm looking really good =]

Quite a lot to read but that's pretty much the last 7/8 months in a nutshell! Roll on the last 8 weeks! :happydance:

I had such a horrible dream last night! Woke up about 4.15 this morning expecting LO to be awake but she wasn't. I eventually fell back asleep and dreamt that I went to the hospital for a check up but there was no heartbeat and my little Gracey had died, it was awful. Halfway through though I was woken up by little miss herself giving me an almighty kick as if to say "I'm still here mummy, don't be sad." I've never been so relieved to feel her!
Went to my OH's baby sisters christening today and everyone was asking about bump and telling me I looked really good which was nice. LO had the hiccups and you could see my whole belly shaking which my OH thought was super cute but then she decided to make me uncomfortable by kicking my ribs which were already sore from an earlier battering! I know I'll miss it when she's born though, I just can't wait for her to be here!

Had my 32 week midwife appointment today. Still got my water infection. She didn't need to take my blood (yay!) then she had a feel of my tummy. LO was giving me a right kicking. She told me I had really good muscles, whatever that means and I heard LO's heartbeat again :) she measured my bump and then she told me that it was the same as it was at my last appointment at 28 weeks. She said the measurements aren't always accurate and to go back next week to be measured again and if it hasn't grown still she'll send me for another scan just to check everything is ok. I'm a little titch though at 5'2 and a size 6 (before I was pregnant obviously!) so I know my baby is gonna be little anyway but better to be safe then sorry :)

Wish I had LO here now. It's such a nice day and I'd love to be pushing her round in her pram in the park and sitting on the grass feeding her. Can't wait till she comes now!

It may be a bit early but I'm off to pack my hospital bag and baby's bag. Went shopping after the doctors for all the stuff I need

Only 52 days to go now :) I've started having really vivid lifelike dreams though, like the type you think are real when you wake up. At the moment I keep having the same dream where Jason is sleeping with his stepmum! It sounds very wrong even though she's only young and it's such a stupid thing to be paranoid about but I must be because I can't seem to stop dreaming about it!!! I hope these go away soon. I'm off to the beach soon, making the most of the sun before it dissappears again. Really glad LO is coming in summer.

Went to my friend's mums funeral today, was very sad. We took her out a bit later on to try and cheer her up and had a right laugh. It's so sad because she's the nicest person you could ever meet and something so horrible happened to her. Just got in now. Grace has been quiet all day except in the church when they played 'amazing grace' and she kicked like mad all the way through then went quiet again. How strange!

I'm finally starting to get into a routine of early night, early morning. No more sleeping in till ridiculous hours! Had quite a nice day yesterday. I was going to ask my OH why he didn't ask me for sex anymore but before I could, we did lol went for a bbq at his mums and typically it started to POUR down. I got a nice back massage when I got back because I have been really suffering with it lately. This massage though, led to sex (twice in one day??!) but it was really lovely and for a while I didn't feel so huge and repulsive! Lol. Off to my parents a bit later for dinner, they have a garden unlike me so I'm hoping I'll be able to sit out in the sun. Although I am dreading the heat as I have to walk there and I know I'm just going to fall through the door when I get there as the heat isn't so kind to pregnant ladies. Not going to complain too much though because it's better than being cold!

Went for my measurement appointment with the midwife today. Bubs has grown 2cm :D The midwife said she was happy with everything and that baby seemed completely fine in regards to her height and when she listened to her heartbeat she smiled and said, oh there's definately nothing wrong there. Put my mind at rest anyway. They're going to keep a close eye on me though because on the measurement graph I'm hovering on the lowest line which if you fall below they send you to hospital. LO is moving a bit more now. She's been having a good kickabout with my ribs this afternoon which is great. So glad she's putting me through this pain so that I know she's still there!

Also last night I ended up :bed: again (!) but I must've strained my back or something. It was so painful I couldn't sleep properly. When I finally did get to sleep I had a dream I was in labour and I woke up in complete agony! My back, my pelvis, my tummy was really tight, felt like really bad period pains, I actually thought I was in labour because I thought my dream had been real! Haha. It was just Braxton hicks though obviously! Phew :dohh:

I had my first antenatal class today. Had to go by myself lol but most of the other women didn't have partners with them. The midwife chatted about 1st stages of labour and a bit about pain relief and giving birth. It was quite informative. Bubs has been kicking a lot more since last night. Not quite up to her usual kicking standards but at least it's something. On my own again tonight. OH popped in on his way to work from his exam and I reminded him about my hospital appointment next wednesday afternoon, which I have reminded him about about 3 times in the last fortnight and he said 'I'm in work on wednesday though.' God, men are useless lol I don't really mind going on my own as it's just an antenatal check up. Am a bit tired today so think i'm going to get some dinner and go to bed! I really fancy chips and gravy from the chippy for tea. I know I shouldn't but I must have them now lol naughty. Baby wants it.

Had a hospital appointment today. Just had a general check up. Blood pressure was fine and apparently nothing was found in my urine sample so hopefully my water infection has finally cleared up. Bubs is now 'ceph' in my notes meaning her head is down. Yay :) Been a bit upset since yesterday and I think bump is feeling it too because I was crying last night and she kept giving me a dig in the side as if to say 'don't be sad mummy.' hehe. Getting more and more excited about her being here now. It's mad how much I love her already and she isn't even here yet. She really is the most important thing in the world to me and it's nice to know no matter how alone I feel, she's always there :)

Went to midwife today, she said all was good and my urine sample was clear, so no more infection :) bub's heartbeat was apparently 'perfect' so that's good too.

only 4 weeks 3 days to go now, getting well excited. Also getting well heavy. My poor back and legs are achy as well as my bump and my ribs especially as she now likes to ram her feet in there!

Getting quite uncomfortable when she's on the move and i'm standing/walking as my skin is tightened and she pushes out elbows and feet and everything.

Not long now though. yay :D

Not long to go now I'm not surprised your so excited. Aww glad everythings going well and your infection has cleared up. x

36 weeks today :D (ignore ticker, it's WRONG lol) Only a month to go! Well if all goes to plan anyway! Sooo excited now, I really hope she comes on time but I think she'll be at least a week late. Fingers crossed anyway

36+5 weeks

Since yesterday my bump has dropped really dramatically and Grace is pushing her head right down which is uncomfortable and a bit painful at times, feels like she is tearing through me bladder too lol I'm hoping she'll be fully engaged soon and things start actually happening as I'm getting impatient and uncomfy and just want to meet her! I'm also hoping she'll behave herself tomorrow as it's my birthday so I'm going out and don't want to be uncomfy all day!

Roll on 38 weeks! Had :sex: last night which was a miracle however it didn't speed anything up with LO much to my dissappointment :(

These last 2 weeks are going to draaaag. But they'll be over soon and I'll have my little girl in my arms :) Just trying to be positive. If I don't I think I'll go mad!!

You must be so excited/nervous about the upcoming birth, what a lovely neat bump! I'm going to guess ay 7lb 6oz for you and on reading your first post I thought to myself 'Girl' then I saw all the pink accesories lol. I honestly didn't cheat and look at your ticker, I've set myself a mission of guessing everyones babies. Good luck, my first baby was a lil girl and she was 3 days early so hopefully you won't go over.

38+2 weeks

NOT a happy bunny. Had appointment with the doctor today because MW was fully booked. So she took my blood pressure and urine test. Then I got up on the bed and she had a 2 second feel of me bump and said "the head's there" feeling around my groin. Then she got out the doppler and listened for a heartbeat but she couldn't find one. But then LO gave a little wriggle so she said "Well it's moving anyway." and left it at that. When I got home I checked my notes and she's ticked that she heard the heartbeat when she didn't and in the baby's lie/position she's written 'ceph' which I've had written in my notes since about 28 weeks! I want to know if bubs is engaged, I know the heads down. I'm just hoping that she isn't just still Ceph because we'll be having words but I think the doctor just had no idea what she was writing about. In the description part of my notes all she's written is "well." Helpful? No. Then went to make an appointment with MW for next week so I can get some proper answers from her and they told me she was fully booked again. So I said I needed to see her so they're going to "squeeze me in." Damn right they are.

It's ridiculous, she comes to the surgery once a week for about 2 hours!

38+4 weeks

Had a tour of the maternity unit last night. We went round the labour ward and the MW told us what to do if we think we're in labour. Then she showed us a high risk room (the labour ward is split into high risk and midwife led) which is where women go if they are high risk or they require medical intervention e.g. an epidural. Then she showed us a low risk room in the midwife led unit where women go if they are having an easy labour and only require gas and air or are having a water or natural birth. She said that they try and keep you off the bed and mobile as much as possible and can provide a birthing ball if we want one. Then she took us to the postnatal ward. She had delivered a baby not long before she started showing us round so she went to the ward that the woman was on so we could see the baby. It was HUGE! A 10lber! It was good and I'm glad I went although I left with mixed feelings. Even more impatient but also a sudden jolt of terror. Suddenly realising that'll be me in those beds with a little baby next to me very soon! Now I'm excited and scared! But mainly excited at the minute :)

Only 8 days to go :) feeling achier and achier in my back and pelvis which is annoying. I'm still fed up but getting a bit more anxious, not scared but more curious about labour lol Off to my mum's in a bit so I'll have some company for the day as OH is working. Went to my mates party last night and saw a load of my friends who I haven't seen since sixth form (this time last year) and they were all poking and touching my bump.

My OH is convinced I'll have to be induced and Grace will be born on 13th July. I hope to god he's wrong! My prediction is 7th July. I know she won't come any earlier anyway.

Just thought I'd stick this here so anyone who visits will send me lots of PINK dust!!

Adorable belly bump. I have tried numerous time to video my little one moving.
Seems the baby has a sense of humour, as every time I put the video on he/she stops.
I've even told my other half to go out of the room, then walk into the room with the cam..
And nope, zilch, nada.

I hope to get a video of the kicking et cetera....any time soon.

Am off to the MW in a bit. She's actually booked up but the receptionist gave me an appointment anyway so she can squeeze me in as she was booked up week before and I had to see the useless doctor. I swear if they tell me she's booked up when I go today and that I won't be able to have my appointment I will actually kill someone.

Getting annoyed as I was woken up about three times last night because I felt leaking coming from down there and when I checked it was clear fluid but it's stopped now so must have been that evil misleading discharge that looks like water. Grrr.

Will update after I've been to MW. Because I WILL be seeing her if it's the last thing I do!

I cant understand how she is sooooo booked up, there must be another mw who could see you!!

i think i remember readin an article about gettin bubs to engage. Somethin like instructin you to go on all fours (hands and knees) on the floor and lift your bum up in the air in repition. Haha whether u can actually get that far down tho is a different story. If i remember i'll have a flick through my mags tonight and c if i can find the article again (but i never can when i'm lookin). Whos ya preg buddy? x

Urgh I can barely move today. My back is KILLING me (naughty baby being back to back) and my pelvis is aching and whenever I walk or even move I get a pain shooting through it. I wouldn't mind but bubs isn't even engaged so I've got this pain for nothing :(

Still no sign of bubs! Not a twinge! Decided she can't come till next weekend because Hollyoaks looks like it's gonna be good this week lol
Went to Mamas and Papas today to get our car seat (finally) got a parasol and a mobile for the cot too. So seriously have EVERYTHING except a baby now. Am getting more and more scared by the day. In no more than a fortnight I will be a mummy! No more lounging around till 2 in the afternoon watching Jeremy Kyle after a half decent sleep! And OH will have a new woman in his life
But still, I'm excited too :)

aww! i warn ya hollyoaks is sposed to be quite emotional so if your hormones r ragin then maybe not wise haha! I couldn't find that article i mentioned on the previous page, sorry. Put ya feet up anyways whilst ya can!! :hug:

She is a bit of a handful when it comes to feeding but I love her to bits.

I really miss being pregnant even though I didn't like it and I especially miss my bump!
