** How I Just Knew **

How did I just know I was pregnant??? Here's how -

After Ovulation I had some mild cramping which lasted about 3 days. After that I began noticing that the cramping was getting worse. I had AF like cramps in my lower back and abdomen and also sharp, shooting pains in my lower abdomen that lasted for a few seconds and then went away. Around 6DPO I notices that my boobs were getting a little sore and by the next day they were swollen, heavy, and hurt terribly!!! I couldn't even walk without holding them to support them. I was also having bad leg cramps in the evenings especially in my calves. My body felt like AF was coming, but I just *KNEW* in my mind that I was pregnant. I also noticed major changes in my emotions. I was crying at everything and mad one minute and happy the next. :muaha: I just felt like everything was caving in on me!! I was (and still am) a total mess!!!!!! I also was so exhausted!! I was going to bed early, getting up later, and taking naps during the evening. I just knew that there was a little bean growing in there causing me these discomforts. :cloud9:

**Finding Out**

The day I found out I was only 10DPO and totally expecting to see another :bfn: since it was so early. DH left for work and I got up at 7:30am to take my temp, chart my temp, and POAS. I grabbed a dollar store test out of the closet, peed, dipped it, and sat and waited. After 5 minutes I looked the test and swore that I saw a second line!! NO WAY - you have got to be kidding me?!?!? So I grabbed an Equate test out of the closet and dipped it, waited, and there was a + sign!!! I took a picture and posted it here and everyone told me it wasn't in my imagination, it was definitely a :bfp: I was SHAKING and in total shock!!! Even after everyone was telling me that it was a :bfp: I was still not convinced!! I ran to the store and got a Clear Blue Digital, came home, peed again, dipped it, and watched. Within 30 seconds it came up with that beautiful word, "pregnant". I was shaking like leaf and crying like a baby!!!!!!

My periods are sorta irregular since coming off the pill - they range from 28-34 days, so when I calculated my due date, I went with an average of 31 days. My last period was March 28th, so as best I can tell my Estimated Due Date is January 2, 2009 which makes me 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant!!!!

 thanks for the comment on my journal sweet pea!

How cute! I was like that when I was pregy with jayden (aged 2)...I knew straight away as my hips suddenly shot outwards (I have VERY narrow hips and cant deliver naturally...so babies have to born via C-Section!) anyway...I took a test and it said :bfn: But I knew...and I was right! :hugs:

Anyway, congrats darl...is this your first bubby? Yay we can be pregy buddies! :happydance:

**And The First Person I Told Was.......**

My mom!!!! I tested around 7:30am and she was supposed to come over to my house at 9am. I was so nervous about telling her!! I was literally shaking all over and almost crying! I know I'm an adult, and I know I'm married, but still..... When I first announced my engagement she didn't want us to get married until I was out of college, but we did. Then she was very adamant about us not having a baby until after I graduated. She literally says something about it every week!!! She knocked on my door and I had 4 positive pregnancy tests in the bathroom. She came in, took one look at me, and immediately asked me what was wrong. I didn't want to jump on her immediately so I told her nothing. She didn't believe me..... I asked her if she promised not to be upset, to love me no matter what, and to be supportive no matter what. She looked very worried and told me yes. Then I started to cry and she said "You're pregnant, aren't you?" I told her yes and she was so excited!! She told me that there was nothing to cry about and everything would be perfectly fine! I was so relieved!!!! She was really sweet and reassuring and made me feel tons better :hugs:

**Me and My Mom Immediately Went Shopping and How I Told Hubby**

SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom asked me could she please go buy me at least one maternity outfit and look around at the baby things. Of course I agreed!! We went to a few stores and looked around at bedding, clothes, bottles, ect.... Then she asked me how I was planning on telling my hubby. I told her I wasn't sure yet. She said we should buy something cute to give him, so of course I agreed. Our favorite college football team is the Clemson Tigers - we found 2 unisex onesies that were Clemson Tigers and decided to buy those. Then we found an "I Love Daddy" bib which we also bought. When I got home I wrapped the digi test that said "Pregnant" up in tissue paper and put it in a gift bag, then put the onesies and bib on top of it. When hubby got home I told him I had something for him. I occasionally buy baby things, so when he saw the onesies and bib he loved them, but really didn't think too much about them. He went and put the things away and came back into the room. I told him that he had forgotten something and that if was breakable and wrapped in tissue paper. He started to unwrap it and realized that it was a P-test. He looked at it, looked at me, looked at it, looked at me (this went on for about 2 minutes) and the asked me was it for real?!? I told him it was right there in black and white! He picked me up, swung me around, then promptly put me down and rubbed my tummy and asked it I thought he made the baby dizzy!! It was so cute!! He got really emotional on me and even shed a tear or two. It was so precious and a moment I will never forget!

5 weeks - 2 days

Well today I broke down and bought some maternity clothes!! I know it's SO early, but I am so bloated that NONE of my pants fit and my boobs are popping out of all of my shirts.... Hubby took me shopping and got me a pair of khaki bermuda shorts, brown capri pants, and a pair of jeans. I didn't buy the full belly type, just the type with the elastic band. They are so comfy and I'm thrilled! They even help to round the tummy out so that people *MAY* be able to tell it's preggie and not fat :rofl:He also got me 4 maternity shirts. They are really cute - they look just like the shirts I always wear (the long, tunic, flowy shirts that are popular now) but they just have more room for growth in the tummy and boob area.

5 weeks - 3 days

I am feeling so crappy right now.... I'm being mean to hubby for no apparent reason, then having uncontrollable laughing spells, then crying for hours at a time.... WOW!! Pregnancy can really have an affect on your emotions!!!! Hubby isn't dealing to well with it right now - he think that since I'm crying ALL of the time that I don't want the baby and I'm upset that we are pregnant  It's not that at all!! I just don't even feel like myself anymore.... My mom came over for a bit this morning and just sat with me and let me cry and talk and that made it a good bit better. She also talked to hubby and let him know that my hormones are INSANE right now and I'm just not myself. Mom always makes everything better! I just got up about 4 hours ago and I'm already due for a nap - maybe a little rest will do me some good.

akamummy
May 5th, 2008, 01:23 AM
Yes I know what you mean! HORMONES are
Take care sweet pea...    :friends:

Just wait until we are past the 1st trimester...Im pretty sure the hormones settle down...I remember reading somewhere, that once the placenter is fully functioning it adsorbes (as it were) the hormones and contains them...hense thats why USUALLY after the 12 weeks you're morning sickness settles down! As well as the hormones settle down a bit too...yes you are hormonal, but hopefully not quite as much as when you're in 1st trimester...

Hope that helps you and DH... :hugs:

5 weeks 6 days

I posted this elsewhere, but I'm going to post it in my journal too -

I teach kindergarten - 4 year olds - 20 of them. Today I was sitting on the floor talking to a little boy who had just gotten in trouble and I sent him to the time out chair. Before he got up to go sit in time out he kicked me really hard in the belly. (he said he was mad at me) It took all I had not to haul off and smack him, but I didn't. He kicked me about 6 inches below my belly button. Immediately after he kicked me, my belly started cramping pretty badly. It has gotten a little better now, but I'm still having dull achy pains in my lower belly and my belly feels sore. I'm sure I'm over-reacting since bean is the size of a blueberry, but I'm worried

Thanks Samo :hugs: It REALLY surprised me that I'm showing already - I fully expected not to show until at least 4 months since I was a little "fluffy" to begin with!!!

HOWEVER.............

Last month, I got a BFP on a First Response test, then tested the next day and got a BFN and then 2 days later AF came - BUT she wasn't here for the full amount of time she normally is and it ws really light. I wonder.... Hmmm..... We thought it was a chemical pregnancy, but what if it was the real thing??

Ok, ok, ok, Amber - I'm getting way ahead of myself! I'll find out for sure tomorrow at my 1st OB appointment!!

I am back from my 1st appointment :hi: It went really, really well. They did the routine things like filling out tons of paperwork, taking urine and blood, ect.... I had to pee SO bad  so she let me do the urine test first!! After about 10 seconds after she dipped the test she confirmed the pregnancy :thumb: It's funny - I knew I was pregnant since I've taken 6 HPT's and got all BFP's on them all, but there's always this nagging feeling that all 6 were wrong until it's confirmed by the doctor  The doctor went ahead and did my pelvic since I was due for my annual this month and said everything looked good. My cervix is very soft and was very tender when she did my pap, but I'm ok. I did/am having some spotting from that but she said that is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Then she did my internal exam and said everything seemed good, but that it did seem my uterus was larger than it should be  They unfortunately were booked solid for ultrasounds today and she said she normally doesn't do an ultrasound until 12 weeks, but she wanted me to go ahead and have one soon to really determine how far along I am. She went ahead and scheduled my for one on May 27th - I'll be 9 weeks then. After I talked to her I met with the OB nurse who talked to me about nutrition and gave me TONS of info about medications, foods, ect... It also included a book on pregnancy and about 6 baby magazines. All in all it was a great visit and I'm super excited about the ultrasound in 2 weeks!!

Where do you live? UK or America? Coz nothing is that cheap over here in Aussie! Especially maternity clothes!!!!!!!! :hissy: ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no JC Penny...we have Target, Kmart, Pumpkin Patch, Room42, the last two are maternity shops...Pumpkin patch also has kids clothes too!
I dont know :hissy: IM SOOOO JELOUS!!!!!!!!
Although if you live in US then that would be $160 american dollars and so would be more than Aussie dollars!

Anyway...enough of me ranting...:hissy:   Im honestly glad you did so well to get all those clothes!:yipee:

Hey your ticker is 8 weeks now - YAY :hugs: I'm almost there - right behind ya!! I'm in America - South Carolina to be exact!! And typically those clothes would have been a good bit more, but I KNOW how to find some sales!!! Target has some great maternity clothes for really CHEAP here, I'm not sure about in Aussie though.....

Feeling good still!! No morning sickness whatsoever!! I am very sad however..... TERRIBLY sad..... I LOVE LOVE LOVE macaroni and cheese - LOVE IT! I suddenly have realized that I've developed a terrible aversion to mac&chz now  I am truly depressed now. I can't stand the look of it, I can't stand to smell it, I can't stand to taste it. It makes me SICK. I ate a few bites and thought I would puke. Stopped, drank some tea and felt better. Tried again and immediately felt terrible after another bite.

WHY MAC & CHEESE?!?!?!?

Great job shopping though, my goodness. I wished I was closer to you, I'd make you take me out and share your infinate shopping wisdom. I could be your grasshopper. LOL So jealous, seriously. I'm inspired now to find good deals.
Well, hope you find a equally great replacement for mac n' cheese, and soon.

I will definitely have to find a mac -n- cheese replacement - it's so totally my favorite!!!

As for shopping - do you have a Target, JC Penny, or Old Navy near you?? I love the maternity section in all of those stores!! JC Penny always has great sales!! Target is where I found a maternity dress, maternity pants, on sale for under $7! I found them both of the clearance racks!!

We are about to leave to head to the OB to have hubby's blood drawn to see it he is RH negative or positive so we'll know whether or not I'm going to need the Rhogam shots. Hopefully everything goes ok and they'll know what to do to keep me and bump healthy and happy!

8 weeks 5 days

We had our 1st ultrasound today!!! My hubby and mom both went to the apt with me - we were taken right back and the nurse could immediately tell I was a bundle of nerves!! She told me to relax and left while I changed clothes. They did the ultrasound vaginally since I am not very far along. Immediately we saw the most beautiful sight I have ever seen in my entire life  There was one beautiful, perfect baby. His/her heart was flickering away just perfectly!! She measured the baby and said he/she is measuring exactly 8 weeks (I am 8 weeks 5 days), but the doctor said that was nothing to worry about - since my cycle varies I probably just ovulated late. The baby is measuring 1.6cm, the yolk sac is measuring 2.0cm and the gestational sac is measuring 5.8cm. The baby's heartbeat was 169bpm - absolutely perfect! The sonographer said everything is right on track and couldn't look better. She printed 7 pictures for us :D It was the most wonderful thing I have ever been through in my entire life! Hubby had tears in his eyes, as did my mom. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect appointment :) Here are some pictures of my beautiful gift  Pictures are a little blurry since I didn't scan them, I just took a picture of a picture and uploaded them.

This is my favorite pic - the sonographer said that his/her little hand was sticking up like he/she was waving!

You can see the baby and the yolk sac in this one.

Also, hubby tested RH-, so I will need to have the Rhogam shots at 28weeks and immediately after birth to keep baby and me healthy and happy.

Hiya Hon thought I'd stop by and say 'Hi'.

Hi!

What a great Journal Hon; made me green with envy at your shopping skills and I love the way you told your OH. Mine was rather unromanticly loitering outside the bathroom while I peed on a stick.

I'm due on the 4th of Jan so we're pretty close too, so if you don't mind I'm gonna keep popping by, compare notes y'know, just generally make sure I'm not going nuts or anything.

10 weeks 2 days

Our appointment yesterday didn't go so good - no sugar, no protein, nothing bad in my urine. I haven't gained any weight, I've actually lost 3 pounds since 10 days ago when I was at the doctor last. They didn't check the babies heartbeat though - we were disappointed...

Now, on to the not so great....

My doctor didn't like my blood sugars from the past 2 weeks and my Hemoglobin A1C wasn't too great (that tests for overall sugar levels). Today I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes - already - at 10 weeks pregnant. I am being referred to to an endocrinologist who specializes in GD. I also have to begin seeing my OB every 2-3 weeks rather than every 4-5 weeks. I can have no sugar now - none - and only 1 serving of "white" carbs like rice and bread daily. My OB was talking about how if I didn't get this under control my baby could have serious problems, the placenta could have problems, and I could have problems. I feel so guilty.... I started this pregnancy out weighing more than I should, not exercising nearly enough, and not eating the best. I feel like I could have prevented this. I feel like if something happens to this baby it's my fault.
