well where do i start with regards to this....
we went to boots and we were totally confused there's so many types/makes/shapes/sizes!
i want to try and breastfeed for about 6-8 weeks (if i can) but after that the baby is obviously going to need bottles and I will need a steriliser.
does anybody have any advice on which are best and if we get 1 make in a steriliser does that mean we have to buy the same make bottles or can you use any type in any steriliser etc.
The main 2 that we saw were Tommy Tippee & Avent.
Thanks for your help & sorry for such a long post!

Closer to nature bottles are suppose to be the closest feel to mums boobs if feeding from bottle - like expressed milk. Depends how you go about BF I'm guessing BUT I can't really say I know ... Just know about the bottles!
You'll find most bottles go in most sterilisers but of course its good to check if say long bottles will fit into certain type!
I have the Tommee closer to nature bottles & both the electric and the microwave steriliser - I find it annoying that the electric one has room for 6 longer bottles but only 5 CTN bottles. The microwave one has room for 4.

I got Avent bottles and an Avent sterilliser. To be honest, if I had looked into it first, I wouldn't have lol

Thanks for helping. Why would you not have chosen them?

Because you can get ones that feel more "breast-like" as Wobbles said. I've used the sterilliser already, to sterillise other things. It's really good. The only thing I don't like is the teats.

I'm not sure how I feel about breast feeding but everyone is telling me I should try it so i'm going to. Which steriliser would you recommend the microwave or the electric?
we had our scan yesterday :cloud9: & really want to buy something and we have decided on a steriliser lol!

My mum advised me to get an electric one. I can't remember why she said now but she was adiment on it.
I don't feel right about breast feeding either. But, like yourself, I'm going to give it a go too.

Do whatever YOU are more comfortable with hun.
Dodgy one  - I like the electric one but I hate the bottom of it (bit that gets warm) as it appears to have gone all funny/bitty with its use (4 months of) & I like the microwave one too - use both tbh
Over all they both do the same thing and take around the same time although the electric one says 3 minutes it seems longer and then to let them cool etc & I'd say the microwave ones are easier to clean.

im 27 weeks with my first and i really want to breast feed for as long as possable, but i know im going to need bottles and a stirilising equiptment. I did concider just to put them in a pan & boil them as we are a bit tight on money but i know some bottles crack! so i was just wondering what people would recommend and why as i want to get some before the baby is born just incase i have difficulties breast feeding & my other half wants to be able to feed every once in a while to! As i dont want to buy something expencive & then decide i dont like using it really! also i was thinking of getting a breast pump what are other peoples experience with them??? thanks

The avent microwave sterilizer is meant to be really good. It's the one I've bought but haven't used yet (obviously). It's quicker that the eletric one, cheaper in most places and it stays sterile for longer too.
