Hi - I might as well start with the three brands I have used!

* Clearblue Digital - the king of the HPTs. Absolutely excellent, measures at 25 miu, so you can test up to four days early. As it is a digital, you don't need to squint at lines (unless you especially enjoy doing so:rofl:) and if you are indeed preggers, it gives you a happy glow when the digital panel flashes up 'pregnant.' The downside to this test is that you can't look at the line, so if you are measuring things like increasing darkness of the line, you can't do so with this brand (they don't reccomend opening it). Also, it is really expensive £11.99 for one test, but £14.99 for two.
- Rating: 10/10:thumbup:

* Asda's own brand - supposedly tests at 25 miu and indeed, I did get an extremely faint positive on this brand three days early. However, it does say test on the day of your missed period. The ink used is pink so it is a bit harder to squint at than the blue. I found that the lines don't show up that well unless you leave them for a while - but that could just be for me! Very cheap £3.90 for two.
-rating: 6/10

* Boots own brand - not really my favourite. Tests at 50 miu. I found that the appearance of the line happens quite quickly (but faintly) if you test from the day of your missed period, but takes ages to actually get darker. So, if you are standing in the toilet at Debenhams, not ideal! Average price - about £8.00 for two tests. At the moment they have a half price deal which takes them down to £4.00. If you are part of their health club (free to join) you can get them for £2.50 for two (bargain!).
-rating - 4/10

Have you tried the tesco own brand? what did you think if you have?

CB digitals  defo not one to always use for early testing though can give a flase negative.

CB pee on stick  but throw after 10 minutes. The thin outter line they give you though can be very frustrating.

Cheapies  for early testing although lower than the 25 miu are known more for evaps. If you believe a positive result is showing retest with another test the next morning.

Tesco pinkies  really like these tests, reliable & affordable.

First response (*boo*) - Disappearing lines (known for as well) no good in my eyes

I used a CB test the day I expected my period and got a BFN.

I also used Lifebrand, a brand I believe you can only find in Canada (one of those showed a BFN (day after I expected my period) but got my BFP on it 4 days later

I love CB Digital! I hate First Response. At 13 DPO I took 3 tests. A CB Digital, First Response, and a Dollar store brand one...oh wait and I took a Equate test and all of them were positive except for the stupid First Response. I took another First Response the next day and it was still negative. I definitely recommend the CB Digital!

First responce worked well for me, as did internet cheapys and a cheap chemist test called Andrews

Predictor didnt work for me either, load of crap

First Response has never worked for me. I got my BFP with Charlie using a Boots own that my friend gave me when she got her BFP with one out of a double pack! Next day I tested again with First Response and it was a BFN!

I'm currently using the cheapo's that Wobbles sent me. BFN's, but I don't think that's a problem with the tests!!:dohh::rofl:

Don't use those!! They are awful. A very quick search on the internet will produce hundreds of webpages with stories of people who were 7 weeks pregnant and still not BFP on these cheapies!

I agree with whoever else said the CB digital is no good for early testing.
Predictor isn't always very good either, especially for early testing.

I've found the best and most sensitive are the original CB and the First Response.

I know this isn't a pregnancy test but as for ovulation tests I don't think you can get better than the CB digital if you can afford them each month because it tells you on the screen so you can't be mistaken rather than trying to judge whether the line is dark enough, which with some dodgy tests can be hard.

I don't recommend predictor. Years ago I got a false BFP with them. Had doctors do their send away urine tests and stuff too and they were all neg, the dots there was one in each window, but they didn't line up and stuff....though it said that it didn't matter - I did find them the easiest to wee on though!

This is what I use. Detected my pregnancy at 10 dpo.

AIMstick (I use the cheapy dip one, not the standard midstream one.)

BTW the "preseed" this company sells looks interesting too. It helps facilitate lubrication as well as provide fertile stuff for the sperm to motile about in :)

It has to be clear blue digital. I wouldnt use any other. There are a few clear blue digitals that i have seen in shops the one that i would say is the best is the one that msrs 20 miu which is the most sensitive on the market and its so easy to read. The result comes up as pregnant or not pregnant . Its really that simple there are no lines to look at. Just words. I do find that the 20 miu is hard to come by i actually started thinking that they had stopped makeing them at one point always just the 25 miu which are still good too.
I hate the boots one. They are shit. To put it nicely. lol

I think the clearblue digital are a good idea because a lot of people get a faint line and don't know for sure. Still I've done one with a previous pregnancy and bot a BFN but then tested again that day with an original clearblue and it was positive.

I really like original clearblue and first response.

I hate the predictor and the internet cheapies and sometimes they work and sometimes they're dodgy.

I know this is an older response - but I agree. I am not sure of how many weeks I am, but the cheapies were giving me negatives and then a VERY faint response - went out and got the ClearBlue Digital and First Response, both came up VERY positive. I was experimenting with the cheapies and they still are showing very faint today. Crapola!!!!

I used Tesco own double pack but was a faint line on both. also tried a chemist cheapo the next day and it BFN so there are arguments for and against cheapos.

:hissy::hissy: just thought I'd have a quick rant on here about Boots +/- tests!! I did a test a week after :witch: and it was a faint :bfp: as was the second one that I did out of the pack of 2 which I then realised was a false alarm. Now... cd32... did a test again and got the same kind of faint :bfp: but it is just the same as the other ones that I did... so I am not buying them again. :hissy:

I didn't think when I bought it this time. :dohh:

As I am so impatient and I have just tested very early... I have decided to help me through the next few days to buy a double pack of "Ultra Early" pregnancy tests online. I have never used them before and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them? They are called ACON Early Detection tests and they supposidly test at 10miu. I have just ordered them and it was £5.99 for a double pack. Thanks

Any clear blue test seem's to work for me. I always use them if i suspect i'm pregnant and i'm late. I swear by them.
Not really tried any other's although i usually have cheapie internet tests in the house but i don't really rate them as they have an annoying hait of showing evap lines for me. xxx

I've just ordered some 'ultra early' pregnancy tests off ebay. It says you can use them from 6 dpo so I might get testing this weekend. Trying not to get my hopes up but I just can't help it!

I like first response, because I never get false positives, and I have had early results. Clear Blue (not the digi) I hate...always negative for eons. Clear Blue digi...love...but not the price. I hate all BLUE dye tests...I have had false positives...so now I only buy red dye test.

Superdrug's own brand bloody excellent under a fiver and tets at 10 mi whatever's!

True I got a positive and came on on due date but line was very faint and obvs was chemical preg no fault of superdrugs test at all.

My sister used the ones off of fertility plan on ebay, I have just brought some at 20 mi whatevers and some at 10 mi whatevers. I just hav to control myself and not test until i'm due my period.

Have used Clearblue digital, first response and ASDA's own brand. I like ASDA's the best - because they are super cheap (2 in a pack for under a fiver) and sensitive too! Can test up to 4 days early. Clearblue digital is obviously the best - but expensive too! Would use to it to confirm, but not for daily early testing. Oh - and have used the internet cheapos too - don't rate them.

Have not tried Sainsbury's, Superdrug or Tesco own brand. May give those a try in the future.

How about OPKs? Which ones do you rate? I am trying the Clearblue digital OPKs at the moment - on day 12 of a 26 day cycle, and no O yet - wish us luck!:hugs:

The only ones I thought were poo were the early response ones, I reckon it's just a swindle.
The tesco brand ones have always picked up early for me, then I use a CB just to confirm.

Know this is kinda old but as a lot of you are from Canada or UK I figured I would throw some info in for those in the US.
With my first pg I went to a clinic and they got my BFP using a dipstick, from what I remember it looked a lot like an IC I had purchased.
With Keira I got two pack walgreens brand test (+/-, blue dye like CB non digi) and first test was invalid (no control) peed on it again about 20 minutes later and got BFP (odd) then used second and got a BFP before I finished peeing on it. This was 10 days late so roughly 24 DPO, but another time I used one of these and lost track of time and got a very strong BFP looking evap.
I have gotten tons of ICs and several of them I got evaps or picked up a chemical. I love them because they are so cheap but I am not sure how much you can trust from them.
I have also used a CVS brand pink dye test (pee in cup, use dropper to place urine) and I liked it, I knew I was not pg as I had not gotten AF back or gotten signs of O, but I always tested before I would have a few drinks since I had no AF to be safe. Very reliable BFN, no faint, I swear I see a line evaps.
Lastly I used a CVS pink dye mid-stream and again like their dropper test got a very clear BFN.
I have come to the conclusion no matter what style test (whether two lines, +/-, or a IC) if it is blue dye I am never using it again. I have seen many evaps on them and seen too many women get so excited, call their doctor, go for their first appt (thinking for weeks or months they are pg) only to find out they are not.

any more reviews?

i am peeing on sticks left right and centre over here because i keep getting BFNs after one of those 'is it an evap or is that a BFP??' moments - i got the faint line on 3 tests (2 x Asda hpt, and 1 internet cheapie), then the next day 2 x Tesco hpt and a cb digi gave me bfns, but i refuse to accept it! i'm thinking about rushing off to Asda this morning to get some more of their tests to see if i get a line again..

Can't go wrong with CB digi and I've also got some superdrug ones cos of all the fab reviews on them. Interent cheapies are ok to keep you busy in the 2ww if ur a POAS addict like me but i doubt i would rely on them to announce im pg. I do not rate FRER or predictor at all - both gave me negs when cb showed up pos

Not a hugely helpful review as I'm still at BFN stage! But have been using suresign 10mui dip sticks from home bargains at 79p a stick. The flow goes very fast and the control line is pink and very strong (and gets stronger and wider over the first minute or 2). I guess I should believe it when it says I'm not PG :( as it's pretty convincingly clear!

Tried 2 FRER this month too and negative also (I'm 5 days late) but easy enough to use. Are on 2 packs of 2 (so 4 tests) for 10.75 in superdrug at the minute, which seems cheap for 6 days early tests
