Congratulations on your blue bump!!!

Personally, i wouldnt. Purely because its not rele up to me as its not my willy!! lol!!
I wouldnt want my son to grow up and feel outcast cos hes different from his friends. Its his choice at the end of the day.
I guess its also because i only know one person who is circumcised.
But everyones different and has their own beliefs.

congrats on your blue bump...

but as far as circumcision goes... it should be illegal unless its for a medical reason.

If a guy wants to be circumcised he should make that decision for himself when he is old enough to do so.

But like the other girls have said, its a personal decision. A lot of people will have for and against views on it but only you can make that decision. Just make sure its for the right reasons. Personally i would never ever have a part of my child surgically removed unless the doctors deemed it necessary.

Hey Anne Marie, I just noticed you live in North Leigh! I live in Witney!!!

Anyway, I hadn't even thought of this before now and I'm pretty sure it's not common practice over here. I think DH would be horrified!

Congrats on your blue bump. We are having a boy as well and we plan on circumcising him. Like other posters have said, it is a personal choice and it is a heated topic. We don't have any specific reason as to doing it, but I have heard that if they don't get circumcised then it can get infected easily. That is one reason why we are doing it. I know some adult men that aren't and as far as I know, they don't complain about it. I do know if they get it done as a baby, they won't remember it. Just go with whatever decision you feel is best for your baby. You can get on-line or speak to your doctor about the pro's and con's of it. Good luck and congrats on your blue bump.

I totally agree with people having their own opinion..... But on the whole hygiene thing.... well, my little boys could get and ear infection from them not being clean, or threadworm from not cleaning under their nails... but I wouldn't go as far as to chop their ears or fingers off to stop it happening. My eldest Lewis, went through a period in his 2nd year, where his wily would balloon quite big when he wee-d. I read up on this, and subsequently went to the doctor, concerned that this may mean his skin hadn't seperated properly. The doctor encouraged gradual pulling back of the foreskin when he was in the bath. He was quite shocked that I thought this was going to mean he'd have to have a curcumcision. I showed Lewis what to do, and it's part of his dily routine now (he's 5), to pull back and clean. sorry if TMI.. but I think to worry about infection isn't a valid reason... thats a simple matter of personal hygiene... Also... having the little boy circumcised because 'it increases sensation' or 'looks better'.... why would you be thinking of that for your child?? If it's 'because everyone else has had theirs done', why encourage a peer pressure society. Again... I know it's a personal opinion... but shouldn't it be the childs personal decision? or doctors?

*Get's back in box*

yeah I think I'm going to get my boy circumcised, seeing as it protects him from all sorts of infections and sexually transmitted diseases, but I heard a story about a man who lived here in winnipeg
He got circumcised when he was a baby and they 'accidentally' cut his penis off! Can you believe it ?

So I see the whole "outcast" things goes both ways. I posted on the other thread and I am definitely for circumcision. My son was and my second will be too. I stated on the other thread that I would not want my son to be made fun of for NOT being circumcised and a couple people seemed to have a problem with what I said. But it looks like it goes both ways. You don't want your son being made fun FOR being circumcised. I did not have it done for religious reasons or hygiene reasons, I did it because it is the NORM. ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA. It seems most people against the whole procedure live in Europe where it is not a common practice, but over here it's extremely common and almost unheard of for a man not to be circumcised. Like I said on the other thread, I have not met one man nearly 30 years who was not circumcised. I think most people who are against the procedure feel that way because it is not a normal thing to do in their culture. And that is a perfectly good reason for not wanting to do that to their child. But when you live in a society/culture where this sort of thing is normal, it's just something that you do. I didn't even think twice about it. I know a lot of you may respond saying that I am ignorant for not thinking about it, or for doing it for aesthetic reasons, and that is fine. I am happy with my decision, and I am sure my sons will never come to me saying they wish they still had their foreskin. I know this topic is very personal and can heated and I just want the people who are against this to understand why some people are for it. Reading some of your posts sometimes makes me feel as if I am barbaric for doing this to my children, but you have to try to understand why circumcision is done. The reasons are different for everyone. (obviously) I respect the opinions and decisions of everyone, but I don't agree with all of them... whew! Sorry for the long post. JMO
